Thank you so much @Anveeroyfor hosting this megarate.  It was so much fun!  I know it must be a huge amount of work to host a megarate, and it is appreciated.

I have a question, perhaps for @bionic:  I don't know much about Taylor's music, so I don't understand the comparison of How Bad Do U Want Me to Taylor.  It is being compared to a specific Taylor song, and if so, is it the music or the lyrics that are similar?  Or is it being compared to Taylor's style in general?

Its more the style. IDK her music that much either but the moment the song started playing I thought Taylor had somehow paid for her music to appear in the playlist

Sorry to butt in! When Taylor transitioned from country to pop music, she released an album called 1989 that has the same sound/vibes that HBDUWM features, hence the comparison. Although I feel that Only You by Yazoo was the inspiration for this track.

But really thank you so much babe, this was my first megarate and i wouldn't really call all the high blood pressure and agitation i got from this a "fun time"  but it was hella entertaining. Thanks for your thoughts.  I hear the resemblance between HBDUWM and Only You by Yazoo, but only in the instrumental.  Otherwise, Only You seems like a pleasant song, where HBDUWM turns into a total bop with strong real or implied off beats giving it a powerful feel.  I am surprised HBDUWM didn't finish higher in the megarate, given it is such a bop, imo.

I will listen to 1989 and give you my thoughts.

I was referring to the very similar intro! But you’re right, Only You and HBDYWM are different songs in concept and sound. 

I don’t particularly like 1989 and it has that insufferable song “Shake It Off”. “Out Of The Woods” and “Blank Space” are fun, but this album is a pass for me! My favorite albums from Taylor are Folklore and Evermore. If you are interested in checking out her music, these two are worth a listen!

I listened to 1989.  Overall, I liked most of the songs.  Yes, "Shake I Off" is insufferable, and incredibly it's the only song on the album I had heard before.  I also didn't like "Welcome To New York" and "I know Places".

I liked “Out Of The Woods”,  “Blank Space”, "All You Had To Do Is Stay", "I Wish You Would" (like the progression in the baseline), "Bad Blood", "How You Get The Girl (chorus reminds me of "Love Story"), and "This Love".

I like Gaga's HBDYWM much better than anything on 1989.

My favorite Taylor moment is a very moving video on YouTube.  Google this:  "Taylor Swift - Clean/Long Live/New Year's Day #Live at the Reputation Tour HD"

I like “How You Get The Girl” too! Maybe you should listen to “Lover”, it’s another pop album, but in my opinion it’s better than 1989

I watched the video, thanks for your recommendation! I love “Long Live” and its album “Speak Now” is a nice one. I also love the album “Red”. But my favorite is “Folklore - The Long Pond Studio Sessions”, it’s the acoustic version of “Folklore”.

Tbh I really don't get the hype for GoE. I think I gave it a 7 on my ranking but now it's more like a 6, and I gave How Bad a 6 before and now it's a solid 7.5 imo  You've got to learn to embrace the cheese

What I like about Mayhem is that she's taken inspiration but it's in a love letter sort of way? To all these artists, genres and styles of music, also her past self. Yet it all has a "Gaga"- spin to it, I just think she nailed the whole thing making it her own. Also someone pointed out that the song Garden of Eden is repetetive? There's so much going on in that song that I've never noticed!
