River 111,628
I'm just pissed that these kind of songs are considered now "taylor swift songs", but they are heavily inspired by the 80s-90s pop girls / girl band songs, even "that girl in your dream ain't real how bad do u want me for real" is a cute throwback to these songs.. even "tell meeeeeeeeeeeee" is such a girl band vibes. Is such a narrow minded to associated this song with Taylor Switft when there is like a huge history behind these kind of songs. Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass 15 1
OliviaRodrigoStan 5,091
As much as I understand the Taylor association, GaGa wrote and recorded songs like "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)", "Earthquake", and "Fashion Of His Love", before Taylor Swift made "1989". She was making girly pop songs long before Taylor even made her transition to such musical rebranding, she was still making country pop when GaGa released those songs. I am not "annoyed" by the Taylor comparisons, because I do hear the similarities, it does sound like a Taylor Swift song from the "1989" album, but it should be remembered GaGa explored this sound ~before~ Taylor did. The only thing that annoys me is when people imply this is GaGa "reheating Taylor's nachos", or intentionally trying to capitalize off Taylor's success. I'm sure GaGa enjoys Taylor's pop efforts, and respects her as a songwriter, but I don't think she was trying to emulate her sound with the song. It sounds like "The Cure", it sounds like "Earthquake", it sounds like many other hyper feminine songs she has released in the past. I would even say songs like "Paparazzi" and "Hair", are on a similar vein too; just fun cute songs for the girlies HEART OF EVER-FROST 9 2 1
elegidadedios 1,803
Let's face it, she included this song to sound more mainstream because she scrapped the original Perfect Celebrity album......... edit: this is clearly satire and a joke I think ppl are thinking I was being serious lmao Edited Wednesday at 03:10 PM by elegidadedios 18 1

nath4gaga2 191
The Yazoo sample is great, the taylor swift melody on the words "How bad do you want me"
Gorehound 4,476
It's not a bad song by any means, and the chorus is actually pretty good, but I'm really not a fan of the instrumental or production at all, and the whole thing just sounds too familiar and VERY OG Taylor Swift coded (I'm not saying that this sound is unique to Taylor, but Taylor has done this sound to death now). The thing that drew me to Gaga's music is how unique, original and future-thinking it mostly is in the pop scope, so this is too much of a cliché. Edited Wednesday at 08:28 AM by Gorehound I'm fine, Ta 2

Raivo 173
It could be a throwback song. BUT I listened to this musicologist podcast, Switched on Pop, and they confirmed it is very very Taylor swift inspired song. These guys are professionals. It references 3 Taylor Swift songs, and Gaga flips the script in this one, while Taylor sings about being the good girl, Gaga sings about not being the good girl the guy wishes she would be. Overall I love it, and always wished she would do more cute bubblegum pop. I know it's not a popular opinion, but what can I do. All I can say is Eh Eh
princedeeblebleble 1,205
I like the lyrical and vocal delivery, but the production is like a sore thumb among all the songs.. for me it misses at least some guitar riffs for it to be a fantastic addition to Mayhem; so I listen to this version 3 1

MadArchitect 809
aside some elements in the production, no, it much more 2010's girlie pop than 80's, and not only Taylor, but other people like Carly Rae Jepsen or Ellie Guilding types, which is exactly why i don't like it hahah, it's mostly how she sings and some stylistic choices, i know it is used in a tongue in cheek way but i still dislike it, and i love eh eh and Fashion of his love, this is different, aside from the overall brightness of the song, i don't think gaga has ever sung or made a song like this, and for good reason i think.

Lord Axel 774
Production-wise it's one of the least 80s-like songs on the album, but I suppose the melodies and vocals could work that way ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴠᴇʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ϟ†▽✰𝒿 ~Ɐ
