I mean the video with Dolly Parton was just a remix of an existing SC song - and it did achieve some virality through jokes about how Dolly sang it. But most people just went back to the og version of Please Please Please. 

Billboards aren't really a great way to excite casual interest in music- they don't play music lol.

Mini films are for fans unless they go viral which it didn't. 

When I say promo I mean performances and hitting the media circuit. Sabrina didn't due to touring (and is seeing the usual tour bounce in charts of where she is currently touring), Chappell performed The Giver about 6 months before release but not since lol and Arianna has done virtually 0 specific promo for Eternal Sunshine since its original release lol

But also people are acting like Flowers was the norm for Miley and not the exception.

They should have released this one first and then uploaded the “chapter” video containing the other two tracks 

That was a very confusing rollout. Releasing the title track first made everyone think it was the lead and I could see End Of the World becoming a cute hit with proper promotion (not a Flowers level hit tho)

Sabrina did a great Grammy performance - right before releasing album deluxe!

But honestly, I don’t see show performances that much important - unless it’s Superbowl!

Look at DWAS - it became a gigantic hit without them! Same for APT. 

Same for Flowers - 2 years ago!

If song clicks - it clicks! If it doesn’t - not much can save it.

she not only stopped touring, but also stopped promoting her music at all.  there were no interviews for her last album, no performances except pre-recorded Backyard Sessions and Grammys performance.
