the why did abra not even crack the top 10?

It did, Global Charts. Hot 100 is just US and their music taste is objectively bad.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I don’t care what anyone says, Disease was not a good choice for first single. Garden of Eden, shadow of a man or Zombie boy would’ve smashed. Not to say disease was a bad song, it just didn’t feel right for her first single in a long time.

This fan base’s obsession with thinking we know what’s GP friendly :yennefer: We’ll never learn

Literally. What makes sense in our ears is the complete opposite for the average basic listener. No artist releases singles to align with Halloween, 4th of July, or any other holiday besides Christmas-- it's just not a thing and is not a recipe for success. Right now, people like songs they can connect with emotionally (party songs are not in right now). Disease & Abra don't fit that mold, but VIY and GOE do. I think those two singles would've charted much better had she chosen them as singles 1 & 2.

Disease is Top 5 Gaga songs for me but totally agree. Not GP friendly whatsoever in terms of sound and theme. But very grateful for that track and video.

I think Disease was the right choice. It created a good amount of hype since the sound was so "out there" for her. It was risky enough to make waves, it was heavy enough for LMs to get excited and her vocal performance is stellar. Zombieboy would have been one of the safest choices she and her team could have made - and i'm so happy she ain't a safe queen

I think that Disease was the better choice considering it was a lead single.  It still has Halloween vibes but feels more like a “classic Gaga” song/represents the album.  I feel like Zombieboy might be pushed hard in October of this year.

Disease was absolutely the best choice for lead. No other song would’ve smashed back then, maybe Abracadabra but she planned this well for 2nd which is better as a follow up.

No disrespect to you, Gaga, or anyone else on this forum, but I just don't feel/see what you all do with this song. It's my only "skip" on Mayhem, though I am not much of a physical skipper unless a truly ear blood-ish song pops up in shuffle on Spotify (doesn't apply to any Gaga songs for me).  I just think it's too campy and cheesy for me, especially coming from a fellow 38 year old woman.  Yet, I feel like ya'll are sleeping on Beast, which is so deeply sensual and steamy.  The rhetoric and love for Zombieboy and ignoring of The Beast should be reversed in my opinion.

I'm sorry but the way you are critisizing Gaga's lyrics as too cheesy based on the fact that she is in her late 30s is and excuse me if I'm wrong, misogynistic.

50 year old men (there isn't really an age limit) can sing about hitting on 20 year olds and people are obsessed with their songs but any woman anything other than below her 20s is suddenly considered cheesy or cringe when they are singing about hitting on men...
