They’re both amazing songs, but Disease is growing to be one of my favorite songs of all time. Considering I could write an entire thesis on Disease, she takes the crown for me.

I would love to read it if you do. The concept is super fascinating to me. :cryga:

You know what, I’m gonna say disease. I thought on it bc it’s hard but I think Judas is really just best in the chorus and post chorus when the chords in the production are so gorgeously nostalgic. I’ve never especially loved the verses but disease is very well rounded. I like how layered and messy Judas sounds but it isn’t like disease doesn’t have intensity either

but the Judas single cover is no joke one of my favorites of hers. The texture bs worked on me bc I think it’s cool we can see her in it, some dust, etc. idk something about it is fun, to me, and it’s nice to have a break from the BTW photoshoot that dominated the rest of the era

Judas has melody so I’m going with that.

Tbh I’d argue it has less than disease given that the verses don’t really have a melody. Disease has a melody she’s just singing with distortion for basically the whole song (except for the bridge which is how you can more easily discern the melody)

Judas was a more iconic single era

Disease is the better song imo

Disease. I own a salon and Judas is the ONLY single that I can’t play on our playlist (in fact, we play quite nearly her entire catalogue). It’s bombastic and sensorially assaulting. Plus, a majority of the music is quite literally a copy and paste sample (12 128 BPM Root E By Manuel Schleis and Alex Butcher).

BTW supremacy runs deep in this community , and sometimes for good reason. But I have to say as a little monster since 08, I remember feeling like BTW (the album) was the beginning of the end of empirical Gaga. It was the first instance that I felt a level of tackiness from edginess that added nothing to the quality of the music. It was also the first era where chart performance faltered. Sorry to beset BTW - but I just think Judas encompasses all the things that I disliked about BTW and why I think it doesn’t deserve to be so elevated above the rest of the body of her work.

Hot take, I know, but just sharing my thoughts. Also, to be clear, BTW is still one of my favorite albums of all time - I just don’t think it’s Gaga’s best.
