Lizzo slams criticism of her new music, says she's reclaiming rock n roll

I've been watching all her new videos as they come out. I will say, she looks great. But listening to everything, the best parts to me are the little breaks in the lyrics for a dance break. Lowkey bored while watching/listening. If the new stuff comes on in the background, I'll bop to it, but sitting down with the songs, it just isn't it for me. No progression throughout the songs and it feels stale after a minute.

Honestly she has done nothing interesting so far for this new era. I switched from Mayhem to her new Single and it felt incredibly empty production wise.

I don't think she's using the racism as an excuse for anything; I think she's just viewing the criticism through the lense of a black woman in the music industry, one of very few that's doing what she's doing, and seeing parallels of the people that came before her.

I don't think it's that she's "too optimistic", but too preachy. If it weren't for the cussing, I'd assume her music is childrens music. The only theme she wants to write about is "I'm hot and I shouldn't be crying anymore" or "you're hot and you should feel empowered". That's fine occasionally, but she's made it very repetitive.

The people she is referencing in all of her tweets wouldn't tweet these things. They would make awesome music. If you have to explain the most basic lyrics/symbolism in the world like its extremely poetic... thats not interesting. She is trying to convince the audience that her music is as groundbreaking as whitney, or janet, or outkast. She is very different from those three acts.

This confused me a bit because Beyonce got a whole #1 and an AOTY out of that album 

and with Chappell Ruano I haven’t seen her get hate or love or any type of reaction towards her country song
