Alternate MAYHEM Tracklist (Blasphemy!)

So...I came up with an alternate order for the songs on MAYHEM. I love pretty much every song individually, but the album just didn't flow for me as well as I think it had the potential to. For example, the sequence of Garden of Eden to Perfect Celebrity to Vanish Into You always gave me a lot of whiplash that almost detracted from how amazing each of those songs are. I also included the two bonus tracks. The bones of Gaga's tracklist are still there, but having listened to this all the way through last night, I absolutely love the changes I made.

5. Garden of Eden

6. Killah

7. Zombieboy

9. Vanish Into You

10. Don't Call Tonight

11. Shadow Of A Man

12. Kill For Love

15. Die With A Smile

 

Couple notes:

-I think Perfect Celebrity makes for an amazing opener. It was the working title for the album after all, and the song's anger and concept of duality feeds well into what Disease is all about.

-Killah is a better intro to the more funky side of the album than Vanish Into You. It really lubes you up for the songs that follow it.

-This tracklist takes you on a journey with a bit more sonic cohesion. IMO it flows really well from Dark Pop to Funk to Disco to the final three "cool down" songs. However it also maintains the 'crazy night out' journey that Gaga has talked about.

-You may be asking, "Where is How Bad Do U Want Me?" And to that I say

I've been thinking a lot about this too, obvs the album is a banger but the tracklist order could use some work haha

I personally agree Perfect Celebrity should've been either first or right after Disease, then I would put VIY right before The Beast as a bittersweet transition to the "cooldown tracks" section you mentioned at the end, and maybe CSTH right after GOE instead, but I do like your order as well

DAAS as opener & Vanish as closer makes most sense to me

Haven't tried this yet but my instinct is to move The Beast in between Killah and Zombieboy

A little breather before the dancing continues. Also I think it would do more justice for it when it's not in a clump with Blade of Grass and Die With A Smile in the end

I do like the idea of the Beast as a reprieve in the middle of the album! (I just couldn’t resist pairing it with Kill For Love tho, they’re such great mirrors of each other)
