I mean, that's a way to interpret it. The title of the thread debates whether or not the song is a tribute to him. If it is, I think some of the lyrics are... certainly a choice . But whatever, I never met the guy, maybe he'd be flattered, IDK, lol. HEART OF EVER-FROST

I get what you mean, but I don't really see "Speechless" as inappropriate, I think her comparing her dad to handsome celebrities, is not really her "sexualizing" her dad, but rather her being delulu as a daughter . She's absolutely not sexualizing her dad, and not even the "dad blindness" that you mentioned, she used her anger toward him and his alcoholism as influence to write a song about a lover because more people could relate to that. Just like she used her grief and love of Rick Genest to write this party song.

Just like she used her grief and love of Rick Genest to write this party song. Is that the case though? I don't think she intended for the audience to think she was talking about a lover. Specially because the #1 thing you learn about the song, is that she wrote it for her dad, she was never secretive or cryptic about it. "Speechless" is universally known as "the song about her ill dad". Many songs that are written about beloved figures (parents, siblings, pets, a friend, sons/daughters, etc), could be interpreted as romantic if the lyrics don't include enough context. Perhaps she has explicitely said that she intentionally wrote the song to appear romantic. But at face value, it does not seem to be the case, to me. Either way, I still find Zombieboy lyrics to be too horny and weird, if written as a tribute to a friend who died in a tragic way . If you guys don't like it, I don't care, it's still my opinion . If you think it's a lovely tribute, that's great, I think the song itself is rather fun, I'm not debating that HEART OF EVER-FROST

But it's fine that you're sticking to your opinion. Opinions aren't facts and right now you're just wrong and viewing her art in bad faith.

Oriane 20,292
There's no way she didn't think about him when choosing the title. Which makes me very curious what the process is, because the lyrics don't look like they're about him. But then again Fashion of his love is about Alexander McQueen and there's nothing obvious about that in the lyrics apart from the name drop. Half of her discography are songs that sound like they're about love/sex and are actually about something deeper And no, the average person wouldn't know that. She said he was a party animal so she probably wrote about him from the perspective of some of the girls he went to parties with while the bridge is Gagas perspective.
