Controversiaga 10,085
First- i must say this is, imo, Gagas STRONGEST album since BTW. I feel it is for the most part very musically mature and authentic. I don’t feel like she is TRYING to match trendy sounds like she did on the majority of chromatica, and I don’t feel she is holding herself hostage to one specific sound like she did on Joanne… however, after hearing Abracadabra, I was so excited to her an electronic dance pop anthem from Gaga again. while i believe Mayhem is GREAT and Solid album- I was really hoping for more songs that sound like Abra… but it feels like Abra sounds the LEAST like anything else on the album. Imo edit: wanted to say this also; the fame sounds a lot like poker face & just dance, TFM sounds a lot like bad romance, BTW sounds a lot like judas & btw, ARTPOP sounds a lot like applause & GUY, Joanne sounds a lot like million reasons, chromatica sounds a lot like stupid love & rain on me... but mayhem doesn't sound like Abra. imo anyone else feel the same? Or it is just me Edited March 7 by Controversiaga Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga” 8 1 1
princedeeblebleble 1,198
Honestly the bonus tracks gave me what I was missing, now waiting for fan edits of The beast and How bad do you want me to make the album even more insanely good! I was expecting more Disease/Perfect celeb moments, however I'm not mad at all since most songs are insanely good and catchy, but yea she always does a plot twist with Singles versus album haha 6 1 2
SimonBaetens 7,681
Hmmmm tbh I’m sure what I ‘wanted’ but I’m very happy with what we got when you're lonely, I'll be lonely too / https://www.last.fm/user/SimonBaetens 2
Knife 6,775
I value songs like Zombieboy and Shadow of a Man just as much as Abracadabra. 7 2 5
Obobo 2,921
I feel like 2 or 3 Abra type songs would have made the album perfect but the album is still amazing without. I have a feeling this new delayed deluxe version we see with album releases means they can see what songs do well and choose the deluxe songs based on that. 13
River 111,483
idk what I wanted, I just wanted new music and I want gaga to surprise me rather than "going back" to her old self. she can reference it for sure, like she did with some songs on Mayhem, but I honestly, truly, don't want another LG1-6, part of being fan of gaga is to discover new genres and to discover her new side of her artistry. Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass 17 1 3
SleipnerBeast 17
By asking this question you are subtextual saying you, or you expect others to be, disappointed? I don't understand how anyone expected a whole album to sound like 1 song you like. Also, the sound and the production of the album is extremely cohesive!
Creyk 17,600
Yes. Hopefully she will drop a second half for the album like Taylor did with Midnights and TTPD and Abel with Dawn: FM. 2
Scarlet Witch 1,276
No expectations but from the pre-release promo it definitely felt like we're getting more of those, but the album is much better off being the current form that it is. Maybe she'll drop an EP full of Perfect Celebrities? who knows

Don't analyze. Songs you ripped apart on Chromatica already sound amazing. It is no coincidence. The standard we hold up for her is unattainable in a current moment.
REALITY 75,176
It's kinda funny when I see people—not talking about the OP specifically—who say "I wanted more songs like Disease and Abra on the album." Disease and Abra are two pretty different songs. Yes, they're both some of the "darker" songs on MAYHEM, but Abra is a lot more electronic/techno/eurodance-influenced imo. Disease is more raw, angrier, and industrial. They're two different vibes and are just loosely connected by their respective music videos' dark imagery. While I adore Abra, I'm also very happy with the other kinds of songs we got; there's a nice variety and each song has its own identity. I've also wanted her to go down a funkier/more disco-inspired route too, and this album kinda fulfills that for me. It's a weird combination of dark electro/techno/dance-pop and funk/R&B/disco/rock, which are all genres I love. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎 7
Divine 1,800
Don't affix your Mozart song structure fantasies to every Gaga release. The album is balanced and fun.
