I don't think the characters needed the redesign and even though I don't think it will be another Sonicgate I don't think people will appreciate it. However I have a good feeling about the film still, hoping it brings something fresh to the Shrekiverse. I wonder if their two other children will be part of it as well. Assuming Zendaya is the daughter of Shrek & Fiona.

Idk if it's a good idea to make a sequel of Shrek... The 4th movie wasn't good as the previous ones but it was still a good ending for this saga. The essence of Shrek was to parody tales with some Gargantua inspirations, it was blended with 2000s pop culture references (and easter eggs, like there were so many details) and medieval things in a quirky funny way. It was also making the satire society in a way. And there was some epicurian philosophy you know. Despite being a cartoon for kids the sense of humor was mature so it pleased me as a kid and now that I'm 19yo I even laugh more to some gags I didn't get as a kid. And the characters felt real, relatable at some point. The choice of music was interesting cause it was Rock music and real bops. The voice acting was great. It's a masterpiece, and you know who else praised it ? Hirohiko Araki, a man of culture and the genius behind the manga and anime Jojo's bizarre adventure. 

There were even refs to queer culture in the 2000s in a kid cartoon, it was pretty audacious at this time right ? 

I hope the Gen Z sens of humor will be used in a proper way, not like in the movie "Turning Red"... The design is less good than the OG one, cause yep it's smoothier, there's less acrid and realistic details (that fits to the idea of a parody), it looks friendlier. But it can work it's not plain tho, it's modern so it could work. But honestly the trailer isn't funny, so I'm mixed.

I get animation evolves. Toy Story characters don’t look the same as they do in the Toy Story 4, but this redesign is… interesting. I’m guessing they’re going for the Dreamworks look, but I’m not a big fan tbh.

I literally had to search through all the little emoji things this site has to find one that best fit my reaction to it LMFAOOAOA

 I absolutely HATE zendaya’s character’s design specifically. wtf is that. Getting suuuuperrr bored of the specific gen z teen look everyone tries to make work in movies like this. Can’t think of another example off the top of my head lol but I know there are others bc I always find it really grating idk. I hate it so bad. Even if they just changed her hair it would be better it’s so mf ugly

I’m a huge Shrek fan, and I’m not quite sure what to think about the redesign. But if it’s good enough for Rita Ora, I guess it’s good enough for me too.
