Okay guys I didn't intend for this thread to become a debate about the political landscape of the Britain and the European union, I STAND CORRECTED! Can we just discuss promo now please :laughga:

She's supposedly in Paris tomorrow, wouldn't be surprised if she came to London shortly after.

She’s not , her appearance on NRJ is a phone call

Ok good so I'm not the only one that's irrationally annoyed at that statement :kry:

Like, lemme ask "When is Gaga gonna do promo in the US/North America" :brat:

Just trolling, Emily

Yeah I dont know why people separate the UK and the rest of Europe like what...I mean even Russia is European and is also separated for some reason.

Oh ok, the statement from the presenter was extremely misleading then.

Yeah because if he straight up said that it’s a phone call there wouldn’t be as much interest

I have no idea why she won't do more European promo. Despite not promoting heavily in the UK in the longest time and Joanne not being as big, she's still huge here. We've got all her singles to top ten this era, you'd think she'd reward us with a live performance somewhere. Was so annoyed when she didn't perform Happy Mistake when she was on Graham Norton last year, even though she came dressed as Harley. Not that I think it would've been a hit, but I want to see her do a UK promo performance again. Miss so much when she used to do Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross. It's clear that labels think heavy promo is only necessary when a singer is new but once you've been around long enough, it's assumed your fans will carry you. I think that the older an artist gets, they're going to need all the help they can get. For new, young acts, their music sells itself. It's when they get older that they struggle to get hits as the label isn't allocating money to keep them promoted and relevant. Most American acts don't bother with international promo when they've reached megastar status, though. Beyonce and Taylor haven't done that for years, it's US promo or nothing. Everything music related is so online-based now that live performances don't have the effect they used to, it's TikTok that makes stuff catch on now and that can be made at home for free.

I dont remember her doing UK promo for a long time, unless its a one event moment for a movie premiere, award show, or touring?

She was on Graham Norton to promote JFAD just over a week before it came out last year. Before that, she promoted HoG on Graham Norton as well. And before that, I can't say.

I never realized the UK has "never been considered part of Europe" :koons: What other continent would it be part of then?? Just because the UK left the EU it doesn't mean it's not European still. I suppose I get what you mean, with it being an island and all that, and it's not physically connected to mainland Europe.

When we say this we mean that being European is a state of mind. I definitely consider us part of Europe geographically and even culturally, but so many Brits think we have very different culture to the rest of Europe, partly because we're so close to America and strive to be like them in many ways. It's partly what causes dislike of us among the rest of Europe. I also think they look down us for not joining the euro and keeping our own money even though we used to be a member of the EU and a fundamental part of that is changing your currency. Other than that, I don't know why the rest of Europe has issues with us although I know they disliked us a lot more after we became involved in the Iraq war, even though the public didn't want that, it's our leader who decided it.

Totally agree regarding the UK promo.. I mean, surely she will do promo after mayhem is released? Isn't one of the main parts of her "job" to visit different countries and do interviews and play her music? It doesn't make sense to me to just release a new album and not promote it? Also I feel like she would have done this with chromatica if it wasn't for COVID

Also, thanks for somewhat 'backing me' with the UK/Europe thing, that's what I meant really - we've never been treated as part of Europe and our culture isn't necessarily European, so that's what I meant.
