Yeah, she ain't coming back. She just keep teasing that new music like this for the benefit of her make up and lingerie brands. Keep her fans eyes peeled and supporting by buying her stuffs while "the music is brewing" type of things

What if her return is a big fat floppage like Fergie (11 years between The Dutchess & Double Dutches), Gwen Stefani (10 years between Sweet Escape & 3rd alboom), & Nelly Furtado (6 years between Loose & Spirit Indestructible) cos they waited too long on it, and people have moved on?  Even 4 years is too long, so much things happening during those period and the scene will change so much, just like what happened to Xtina. 
Younger kids definitely know her not as musician, let's just say that.

I think she has interest in releasing new music now. But she's also in a very tight spot. 8 years have created high expectations for when she does release.  Her fans will want something unbelievably good. And a lot of that music just hasn't kept up with the times. So she has to find a way to deviate from her old sound into something that will sound modern but also still make it sound like her. And it's not that her teasing music is increasing her makeup sales. It's that releasing the wrong album could tank her entire brand.

Her comeback will be THE biggest musical comeback in history. We always say Katy & Gaga dominated late 2000s early 2010s but so did Rihanna, it was all about them. Maybe because she’s been away for so long she kinda left the conversation but her catalogue proves ti be timeless because the streams are there still! She’s the IT girl of the music industry, she has something no other popstar has even if she isn’t the most talented one. She’s a superstar and people just care, something you really can’t buy, it’s organic it’s who she is.

she isn't the best performer but i never went to a Rihanna show to see Gaga level performance  i went to dance and hear the songs of hers i love of in a live venue atmosphere

She has some bangers.. but her actual talent is questionable at best. She’s “been in the studio” for nearly a decade with zero result and telling us she’ll put in ANOTHER for something “worth the wait”…..  just put out the music. No one cares
