Children vibes The video really reminds me of Steven Klein (Alejandro video and fame ad) I think I prefer the disease video just because it's more cinematic but love this one too! PEZ 6,148
I'm obsessed and (if I can be mean for a sec) I'm also grateful Richy had nothing to do with this amazing video, the choreo was so good instead of that goofy spastic **** ⚡🐲 2 2

RudraCNG 14,353
I can't stop watching the video, specifically the first verse. I can't believe how good it is and especially considering that it's a one-shot.
imnotyourbabe10 6,075
The wait was so worth it. What a return to form! So many references: Alejandro, G.U.Y., the Fame perfume ad, Judas-level choreo. For some weird reason, it's like Dark Lady by Cher to me (casting a spell, basically). Anyone else felt a certain kind of wistful way about the lyrics and delivery? The lyrics about angels and devils - and dancing through death or love. This may be a Top 3 era and Top 10 single. Cannot wait for this album. It's been such a mood boost since DWAS and Disease. Thank you Gaga! 1

Ziggy 10,835
51 minutes ago, Bebe said: So funny considering Katy’s first major album was literally the trendy emo-esq pop-rock and then for her next album she went dance pop and watered down/cartoonified Gaga’s sound and aesthetic to make it more digestible. Dance music was never her roots. The difference between Gaga and Katy is that Gaga was always a dance musician who has largely stayed true to her roots while pushing her aesthetic and her genre further. She blew up because she was interesting and different and she carved a lane for herself that was unique to her. Katy never carved a lane for herself, she diluted what was actually unique and interesting in pop culture in the 2010’s and made it easier to consume. Once dance pop was no longer a dominant trend, her return to the genre felt boring and uninspired because the majority moved on from dance pop and her exploration of dance music was NEVER interesting, it was catchy and a basic interpretation of dance music and every song she release since Teenage Dream felt like it could be slapped onto another deluxe. In comparison: Just Dance was a europop inspired party song, Bad Romance was an operatic German house record about toxic love, Born This Way was a gay anthem that had a disco chord progression with gospel elements, Applause was an EDM synth-heavy track with Bowie inspired vocals about the art of performance, Perfect Illusion was dance-rock banger about falling out of love, Rain On Me was a future-house track about recovery and alcoholism, Abracadabra is an industrial, Eurodance, disco, post-punk mashup with poetic, metaphor filled lyrics about ???. Yes, of course there are callbacks in Gaga’s work because it’s the same artist, writer and singer exploring electronic music and dance music. A Gaga album should sound like Gaga… but each album of hers is still distinctive. While her contemporaries tried to dilute her work to reach more mass appeal, Gaga appealed to more than just the lowest common denominator and garnered a fanbase that was interested in her unique perspective and approach to music and performance. Gaga brought her authentic theatre experience, love of heavy metal, pop sensibilities, lower east-side aesthetic and creativity and injected it into her dance pop music. When she “returns to her dance roots” (as if her last major release wasn’t Chromatica) it’s not only a return to her unique brand of dance music but it’s also a reflection of how those same sensibilities have grown, evolved and changed as she explores new sounds and imagery. It’s like comparing The Rolling Stones to Hot Chelle Rae (that band who had that one song “Tonight, Tonight”). Like yeah I GUESS they technically both make popular rock music, but one experiments with blues, funk, hard rock, new wave, classic rock, punk rock, disco, soul, soft rock etc and one makes radio-friendly pop rock. There’s going to be a difference in reception if both make an album that “goes back to their roots”. Also Katy’s wasn’t a return to her sound lol when did she sample crystal castles? Lmao if the return was “doing whatever was popular but worse” than sure she returned blazing high. And the music itself was bad. Also worked with a rapist. The issue for Katy was she only cares about being popular and cool and hip. Gaga doesn’t. You don’t make a song like disease for a lead single and say you care about that lol it’s a great song but it’s ABRASIVE in this pop landscape. At most, Gaga wanted to make something she knew her fans would love and had craved from her. Risky move! But she dove in and didn’t go back to redone or Fernando; she found new people to give her a sound for who she is now
