I've only seen Emilia Pérez from all this year nominees and with all due respect I'm glad that the lead actress is getting the nomination she was fine(?) but she diffidently don't deserve the win but I get the insecurity that comes with that nomination.

Mikey has been winning many of the critics awards. They love her in Anora. And she has been regarded as a major contender since Cannes. But Fernanda seems to be gaining some buzz as of late.

Short answer: yes.

I saw the movie in Venice, before any hype and back-to-back with others (Babygirl, Maria, Joker...), and I was blown away right there and then by her performance. It's way more nuanced and moving than any other I've seen last year.

Don't think Mikey will get it honestly not this time at least I don't think they will run with the new comer narrative this year (finger crossed Sean Baker gets Best Director tho it's long over due and it would be such a cool moment to see I'm planning on seeing it this Friday) could see it go to Fernanda as wild card as for Demi she just lost traction over time so probably not.

Ok will definitely see it. Would you guys recommend Nickel Boys as well heard mixed and contradicting things about it but I'm planning on giving it a go anyway.
