NUTELLA 6,148 Posted January 28 Share Posted January 28 (edited) (edit- tldr, i think the cover is a photo of a photo) I hope I can articulate this clearly without sounding insane lol I think the mirror in the actual photoshoot was unbroken (she’s just peeking around the edge of a normal, in-tact mirror) Then the “broken” effect is actually a tangible piece of cracked clear plastic/etc laid atop of the *printed-out* photo, at which point the picture was photographed AGAIN (lying flat on a black surface, held down by the shattered translucent material). Look at the numerous, overlapping layers in the top left corner. The clear plastic “cracks” are physically laid on top of the photo and then branch out over the edge of the photo on the left, overlapping with whatever else is weighing the photo down in the top left. This “paperweight” item casts its own small shadow, too. You can see the clean line of the real, unbroken mirror underneath the more three-dimensional jagged edges of material. Food for thought... ? I was underwhelmed at first because it is simple at first glance but yeah when you look into it starts becoming ao intricate and an actual physical copy cover. the practical elements yas everything you said stresses that and I agree. it’s definitely inviting the listener to look at the body of work and the songs in a same way and I love her for that. the cover grew on me 100x already in the span of these past few hours. seeing this thread added 50% to that honestly. it is gorgeous and iconic specially with the rest of the promo shoot which looks flawless. I Also felt like It looked like broken plastic like flexiglass but didn't put much effort into It. Her resting tired face lol. She looks bored tired and over It. And its the face youll purchase and look at. But i kinda like It. I mean the whole broken mirror Isnt really such a groundbreaking idea but conveys the concept.
