I mean, the BTW motorcycle one was definitely more interesting I actually like that cover, but mainly because I have a nostalgic fondness for it. I like the standard cover (even more after finding out what the broken mirror is supposed to represent), but the alternate covers are all I ever wished for from Gaga regarding visuals. I remember an interview from the Fame era where she explained that she isn't interested in traditional beauty and where she was gushing over how pretty Jennifer Aniston is (Yeah, I don't remember what the exact question was...), but that "pretty" would never be her and that she wants to challenge beauty standards, explore different approaches to how we perceive appearance etc. (or sth like that). This is exactly it. She is embracing everything that's weird, dark, broken and disturbing and turns it into art - again, finally! I'm one of those people who pretty much lived for everything Gaga put out from 2008 - 2013 and I gradually lost interest after she went for jazz and all the other side projects (good for her though, she's Lady f*kn Gaga and can do whatever she wants). But this album is shaping up to be everything I was hoping to see and hear from her for the last 10+ years. I have already preordered three different versions of the album (never done that before lol) and the last time I was this excited about a new Gaga release was in 2011 right before BTW came out. So yeah, I guess you can never make everyone happy. But it's totally fine to not like every single thing she's putting out, of course - that was me these last 12 years. But I'm really glad I stuck around. Thank Ü for coming to my TED Talk. ... Even the fact that she got her label to greenlight sth this bizarre as the standard cover for what was one of THE most anticipated albums of all time is proof that she had pop culture in a literal chokehold.
