StrawberryBlond 14,589
Really surprised that these aren't at the end of the tour because I don't see this leg as being very profitable at all and this leg begins in May. Aside from all the singles flopping, her residency a few years ago was in Vegas, so most people in America that wanted to hear her play her biggest hits will have already seen them with that. Seeing as she's had no hits in all this time, why would they want to see her do it all again on tour, which will likely be heavily focused on greatest hits? A bit of a risk going for Oklahoma City and Baltimore as well, I don't see her having lots of fans in those areas, 99% of artists just skip Baltimore completely. So, with just over 3 months to sell these tickets until this leg begins, despite no hits and no promo, that's going to be an uphill battle. At least the way these dates fall suggest that her team are realistic about the fact that she'll be lucky to sell the majority of tickets because there's only room for a second date in about 3 cities overall, so it suggests it's only one date per city. Wonder if she'll add Asia too? She always goes there, so I'd imagine so. By the looks of things, Australia is going to be the only country where she'll truly come through however. 13 hours ago, Chromatix said: Ok - album flopped, singles flopped but I admire Katy for one thing - she don't abandon her projects and still promotes them. Like - she could say "Okay, we moving on from 143 era" but she did tour and will play all over the world - Kudos for that. Imagine Gaga having Katy's attitude. Many of her singles could have been 2x more successful. Continuing to plough on with the era isn't Katy's personal choice. It's the label's. Gaga ending her eras prematurely is also her label's choice. Whether an artist sees their era through or not is always on the orders of their label. It's their funding that make videos, tour and promo possible, so it's their call if they want to potentially throw it all away by pushing an artist who isn't selling. We know that Gaga would see her eras out to the bitter end if she could, it's not her fault that Interscope prioritise protecting their investment over giving her fans content. Maybe Capitol just like to stick to the plan regardless of an artist's success but their choice to put Katy on tour could be less about keeping her fans happy and more about an attempt to get back some money that they've wasted on promoting her last 3 flop eras. skaxboy 5,180
Las Vegas on EDC weekend?!? I’ll probably check out when she comes to my city. Maybe wait until the day of the show and see what I get. Or it could be prices decently.
Perfect Celebrity 1,505
I’m really surprised she’s playing the American Airlines Center here in Dallas rather than the Dickies Arena. They built Dickies Arena a few years ago for rodeos and smaller arena tours that still have demand but may struggle to fill AAC. Good luck to her but I won’t be attending this time. It’s bizarre there’s negative reaction as arenas are still the staple of most big tours, and in my opinion arena shows are way better than stadiums for audiences. The artist is so tiny in a stadium even if you have first row seats in the lower bowls.

Only really BIG artists, and legacy artists that can sell can do stadiums. Arenas are the norm for any mainstream artist. Like I don’t see why people are just shitting on her. now if it about selling… that’s a different story.
