Do you think I post this... that I wanted some "negativity"?!

It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.

My two older sisters were in high school at the height of the Britney craze and they both paid her DUST  :icant:

Tbh I only stan her work from In the Zone onward. Pop between 1997 and 2002 was and is still so cringe to me.

Even if it's sad that she wasn't fully commited to her artistry because she was abused by her own family, her team,...

She is, and she will remain a pop icon that changed forever pop music. New artists keep quoting her as their inspiration. :holdmyhand:

Reject False Icons

No, but because of her absence and how the public and her fans always had something from her, they are starting to idealize those days

The blueprint is really Janet Jackson, and Robyn in her early days, fans don’t want to see it but it’s undeniable even though that doesn’t take away her merit

No. And just because her mental problems and lame producers she is not huge today, imagine a mature Britney slaying.

She’s the ultimate pop girly, the blueprint :firega:

This part.

She's not the greatest singer, the greatest dancer, her music was never the greatest on the market, but she had that factor, that something about her that put her up there as having one of the most iconic and influential images and careers in pop music.

I always put her in the B tier, personally.

There's MJ at the top all by himself.

A-tier is people like Madonna, Prince, Janet, Beyoncé, etc

B-tier is people like Britney, Shakira, JLo, Gaga, Billie, Taylor, etc

I have my own little criteria for that, you could credibly put her in with Madonna's group tbh

Britney learned a bit from her :whitney:

I've been wanting to do a deep dive on Janet's influence over Britney specifically for a while now

Controversiaga

No. The opposite.

the general public over looked her talent and her charm and made fun of her when she began to show she was struggling.

And even before the showed she was struggling she was never respected or taken seriously by her peers or other professionals in the industry.

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Nice, but I would put Britney and Gaga in the A-tier.

I live outside the space time continuum.

I truly believe if her career wasn’t hijacked, she would be next to Madonna and Michael Jackson in the upper echelon.

I think the paparazzi and vultures surrounding her robbed everyone. They mined that stardust for every penny they could.

She’s a blueprint for so many artists, and their formulas have been tweaked and perfected because Britney Spears created that path.

It’s easy to forget that the music industry in the late 90’s/early 00’s was such a different landscape that she helped cultivate.

She's an icon. She was a trailblazer in the industry. She has shown she has been multifacetedly talented for almost her entire life. She'll go down in history as an important figure in modern music. She was not allowed to develop her artistry properly for most of her career. All factual statements.

imo pop music has developed beyond *some* of her work and looking back it's not standing the test of time. A lot of her fans are hyperbolic about some of her output because of her immense potential, so I'd still say that she's slightly overrated.

Wonderful performer 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
