The world does not revolve around Hollywood. Earthquakes, fires, floods, genocides, wars have been happening all around the world, and I haven't seen Hollywood put everything on hold for any of those catastrophes. Covid was an exception, as it happened for the whole world.

I understand a pause on events/announcements and focusing on getting these fires under control for a couple of weeks. For morale and logistics, it's important. It's a devastating disaster, but people go to work and continue living their lives despite the conditions. It would look extremely tone-deaf, imo, if Hollywood went on a months long pause because of this. Nothing will be gained, and it would just make Hollywood look even more out of touch if things go to a halt, especially if the fires don't get worse.

My comment has less to do with Gaga and LG7, but more with how an extended pause would benefit no one. Actors need to work, the music and movie industries feed enough working class people that any extended delay or pause in the industry would make absolutely no sense.

No I think your right, I’m sure it could be done, but so many contributions from people who did the work are probably affected.

The release of an album is a celebratory event, and the people making those contributions are affected by a disaster. As an artist, I’m sure it would feel terrible to leave those people behind.

The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and other big artists can afford to wait until the people who packaged and delivered their albums get a semblance of life back before they release.

Fair points

There's always something new going on. It seems a bit egotistical to think putting an album off for a few weeks does anything to benefit or harm people who are the victims of a wildfire.

The reality is that there will be  extended delays and various other complications in the entertainment industry because of the fires.

Its nothing to do with naval gazing Hollywood making everything about them and entirely to do with location.

People will prioritise rehoming themselves naturally.

But beyond that, there's at least 2 weeks of filming & other production work in LA lost to the fires and there's still the potential for more time lost. Because of how packed schedules are combined with paper work for filming permits etc its not like this can all just be slotted in next week. Other things are already planned, the calendars are full.

That means that tv shows will likely have delayed seasons, larger season breaks or simply will have the number of planned episodes cut.

Films under production in the area will be delayed, some in infancy and with smaller budgets could be scrapped.

It will have less of an effect on the music industry as a whole - although there will be an impact to any performance rehearsals going for any artist that has been doing so in LA studios using LA dancers. And hotels are going to be hard to get space in due to the amount of people now homeless having to use them (if they have funds).

The main problem for the music industry is the delays of major acts like Beyonce & the Weeknd will inevitably mean labels move around release schedules for other acts to avoid clashes.

None of it is because the industry is out of touch. Its just operational & logistics issues.

I'd understand if a delay happened, but there's not a reason to do so as far as I know.

I'm not getting any sleep tonight because I woke up to a beautiful life. I'm awake.

Honestly I just want her to communicate what's going and a release date, doesn't matter if its next month or next year :p at this point maybe a later date so maybe there will be some actual promo/interviews.

These answers feel funky but I don’t think she should delay unless it makes utmost sense to the success of the project.

My question is, what's even the point to delay it? if she delays it or not, she won't do any other level of promo than what she's currently doing. I wouldn't expect anything else.

No, anything affecting one city shouldn't be cause to put off something which is being marketed to the entire world. Gaga has a personal connection because she lives there, obviously, but not in an area that's been affected. LA is a large place, the entire city isn't even affected and the situation is starting to be controlled. Why is it that a disaster affecting a major city filled with celebrities is suddenly cause to stop all entertainment releases and promotion? There are disasters affecting the world every day. Many places go through annual issues with disasters just like LA does. Their issue is wildfires, for other countries it's mudslides, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes. But no one stops for them. Did celebrities cancel all releases and promotion when the tsunami hit Thailand? When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans? When the earthquake hit Japan? When Russia invaded Ukraine? When Palestine came under fire from Israel? No, they just kept right on going. Sure, they may have collabed on a charity single and done a relief concert to draw attention to the devastation and get people to donate but they were still working and putting themselves out there. As you can see from that list, even when something is happening in their own country (New Orleans being devastated by a hurricane) and nuclear power stations are releasing fumes into the air (Japan, Ukraine), it has never caused celebrities to cancel projects and shaming anyone who doesn't. Because it's happening on their home turf. Says a lot.

There's going to be no album until February at least, so she's not delaying anything right now anyway. The Weeknd delayed his album by a mere week (as if that makes any difference) so I don't think Gaga should feel guilty by announcing something on schedule. Granted, there is a bit of reasoning in delaying certain entertainment projects. California is a very populated state and is a major consumer of entertainment. It's also full of liberals, who are super supportive of popstars. It's also a very rich state, with a lot of people willing to pay top dollar. So, if you're going to put out an album, it might have its numbers significantly affected if released in the midst of many Californians being too consumed with other things right now. Similarly, announcing concert dates including California when people will have to hold onto their money right now for rebuilds and can't commit to a concert date might be unwise. I highly doubt Gaga's announcing a tour along with the album though, she usually always waits until it's been out at least a month or two.

I don't see her delaying things. She has a very international fanbase who will be expecting an announcement and won't be happy with a delay over something that doesn't affect them. Chromatica was delayed over a pandemic, I don't want to see her second consecutive album initially sabotaged again.

Honestly at this point Disease feels so detached from what’s about to come. Might as well consider it a promo single and relaunch the Era with a new single during the Grammy’s and if she wants to still release the album Feb, sure, if not no later than March please so that we don’t have the hype die out again like it did post disease. However, it’s imperative that she releases a new single by Feb max. Otherwise it’s gonna come across very messy. This is just my personal take.
