LG7 Lack of Choreo?

So I was thinking that maybe one of the reasons why Disease underperformed / didn't leave a big mark on pop culture was maybe the lack of choreo for a LEAD single ?
Til now, almost all of Gaga's LEAD singels (except for Perfect Illusion) had rehearsed dancing/big choreo.

I feel like Gaga was teasing her return to Pop music + dance music all year, so we were kinda expecting a boom boom bang explosive dance choreo in the music video, which we did not get...

I appreciate the Disease MV A LOT tho, don't get me wrong, but I feel like many ppl aren't returning back to the MV because there's not a lot of dancing.

We know (I guess?) that there will be dancing for sure ! But do you expect the next single to be choreo-less too?

Didn't you see her tik tok? Of course there's choreo. It's just that it's just her. But I don't think she needs backup dancers, it's a big change on this for her.

The GP doesn’t care about music videos, so they don’t care about official choreos. If they want one for a song, they’ll create one and make it viral. If not, Disease happens.

I think it was many times said before, but the video is highly choreographed. As said before here as well, it’s just that we don’t have back up dancers and flash mop dance breaks, which is perfectly fine to me. Not to bring age crazy to the table, but imo she doesn’t „need“ to do these things any more in any given moment. I’m happy she explores different things artistically other than what she did already 10 years ago. Aaaaalso, we most likely see her dance with dancers again for the tour. 🤗

Honestly, I don't think the lack of dance pop choreo is the issue. 

Music videos just don't have the same impact these days especially compared to their cost (which is why we get less and less). 

And almost all of the viral TikTok dances originate from user content for songs rather than the song's official music video choreography. So I just don't think putting a bit more conventional pop diva dance moments in the music video would've changed anything.

It's been said so many times, but I gotta add to the chorus: there is plenty of choreo in the video for Disease. Not trying to drag you, I promise 💜 it's just that Ms. Parris gave us some pretty great choreo for Gaga and it feels dismissive to say there's a lack of it since it's more abstract. I do get what you mean though. 

I don't think that really affected anything negatively. If there was a very obvious tiktok bait moment it may have had more of a viral thing going for it, but I'm glad there wasn't. Disease came out at an interesting time and maybe that's the main driver of its trajectory on the charts. It may have a resurgence when the full project drops so that's exciting!

I'm sure we'll get some more typical dancing Soon . For the next single though? No clue. The future is limitless ✨️

Again, if anyone thinks there is no choreo, look up Martha Graham and research her teachings. 

Choreography is more than just pop girls wearing leotards and spinning around.
