I remember hearing it shopping at Boscov's at least 10 years ago for the 1st time.  I wasn't feeling the season but loved this song though and it got me a little more in the mood.  

 

Alexander O'Neal- great and underrated soul singer imo.  love this one of a Christmas album he did in 1988

 

 

 

Both songs from the 80s but are timeless and still hold up well..

overall, Wham!'s Last Christmas has become the only Christmas song i really enjoy.

Lights recently released a post punk, new wave cover of it, but it's only on Apple Music. she's done some covers of a couple Christmas songs in the past, but this one really takes it.

the other is a version of a song i remember hearing through Pandora when i was over a family member's house years ago. it was this jazzy version of The Christmas Song by Arturo Sandoval. no vocals. it has a very somber and sad tone, which is kind of the energy i relate with. unfortunately, it was only available to buy through itunes at the time. i remember not being able to find the studio version on youtube.

It's nostalgic sounding and feels kinda like a warm hug for your ears. There's no particular reason but it makes me think of my grandpa. This is my fourth Christmas without him. I miss him a lot.
