Cohesiveness doesn’t equal all the songs being the same, it’s the songs forming a coherent piece when taken together

ARTPOP is very cohesive, you wouldn’t imagine You and I on it; but dope and jewels and drugs work well on it (not talking about the songs quality per se)

same for BTW, you wouldn’t imagine jewels and drugs or Dope on it; but you and I makes sense in it

finding cohesiveness in an album where a song has been inserted for business purposes is extremely difficult; even more so when the album is otherwise rooted in something specific and particular (Gaga albums are like this)

It's clearly a commercial movement, hence cheap. Most of us were not expecting this from Gaga, especially when shr clearly said this was an standalone single. But whatever, as long as the rest of songs are nice, I am fine with it

You guys are just insane. I sometimes wonder if this is a Lady Gaga forum given all the complaining, moaning and whining.

Very smart move. The music industry relies on money, and Gaga is a commercial artist. DWAS is an amazing song, I listen to it everyday, and I definitely think it will fit in with the album. Gaga and her producers are not stupid, and this huge hit deserves its fame and success.

I wonder what people complaining about “selling out” would think if they heard about all sorts of decisions made behind close doors to increase sales. I also think most fans on this forum hate DWAS, which is wild to me, otherwise this backlash wouldn’t happen

No need to lose hype! This is like Gaga's main musical trick! Gaga's albums always have a combination of dark songs, silly songs, and ballads and they always end up sounding great together. Do Speechless, Dance in the Dark, and Teeth sound to different to be on the same album? What about HML, Americano, and The Edge of Glory? And don't even get me started in how all over the place ARTPOP was!  Can you even believe Swine, Donatella, and Dope ended up on the same album??  Diverse album genres are one of Gaga's main canon powers, not a mess!

This has me worried. She makes it sound almost as if there was no plan with the album. Just throwing tracks together and hoping for the best. 
There better be more bangers like Disease! 
Her most cohesive album for me was Chromatica and I thought she’d continue in that way. 
 

So now we have Disease, DWAS, Abracadabra, Notorious being, Zombified(?) and possibly the Weeknd collab. 6 tracks. Possibly half the album. 
 

Edit: Honestly thinking about this, I don’t care. Just gimme new Gaga and I’ll be happy regardless
