I HATE to say this but she's right this time. Well part of what she said. I was just talking at length the other day with someone about how the arts are important, because it's the writers, filmmakers, other creatives who come up with the ideas of the future, and then the scientists figure out how to make it happen. Art and creative thinking is imperative to the advancement of our species and always has been

I still think she's a kook who's lost it though

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Claire, shut up.  She’s so pretentious.

Having an interest in AI as a whole isn't a problem it's glorifying and putting generative AI in particular on a pedestal that I have issues with. Any artist who actually cares about art should understand how ****ed it is that these mega corporations are getting away with stealing from and trying to replace artists.

What we're seeing right now isn't the ai fantasy she or the marketing surrounding genAI is pushing, It's a dystopian nightmare waiting to happen.

She is right about her philosophy on artistry, but (I'm going to say this in good faith and ignore the rumors) her ideas on AI are so idealized that it's blinding her to the truth of how it exists today. It literally steals from other artwork to create. It's not truly "artificial intelligence" that she keeps using, it's conglomerations of other people's work.

I think this person's comment struck a nerve with her and that's why she took it so personally. On some level she might realize this... God, I hope she does. Otherwise she and Elon have been perfect for eachother all along.

Because (and here's the bad faith part where I take the rumors of her using producers who she forces to sign NDAs and then pays under the table come into play) they're both seemingly addicted to adapting or utilizing the work of others and marketing it as their own, purely in the name of their own self-actualization. I think she hopes AI is going to give her the "freedom" to express herself "independently" like she's wanted to on some level all along, but has had to rely on others to accomplish for her. Unfortunately, AI just isn't there yet, so she has to make arguments like this to justify her usage.

Wow this makes so much sense. I truly think you've got her figured out. My brain was half-connecting these same dots but you helped put it together
