Disease may slightly rise up like how Stupid Love did, if not a new peak. What is good about Disease is it is still getting positive callout in the radio unlike Stupid Love and Perfect Illusion, so I do have some hope in it. Nevertheless it's the best lead single since Applause and it has the potential to reincarnate like Judas and Bloody Mary. What are the callout scores? I keep hearing they are good but i havent seen numbers

SpadesToStart 2,697
If they move on to a second single, she needs to perform it! Her performances create viral moments, and move sales and streams. They always have! SNL, Fallon, Grammys, Graham Norton, etc. She needs to be on all of them. Couple that with some more modern lifestyle content too (Hot Ones, Chicken Shop Date, Las Culturistas).

JazzGa 14,512
I'm getting 911 Promo Single type vibes from Disease "Just let the art stand for itself!" We ain't gettin a chart push because Gaga doesn't need another chart hit and she dont feel like it, quite simply I've taken a few dips in the lady pond

It was released as a promo single. Its release as the second single and the music video release was completely botched after they saw it was doing decently in sales. Very reminiscent of TEOG and its video which, again, was a promo single turned 3rd single because Judas underperforming threw them off. ROM on the other hand, was a planned single, but where was it promoted other than the VMAs? very true, it definitely wasn't intentional with MR anyway, but i think she or her team may have noticed this pattern and are going to do it intentionally this era because it's what works for her. in the grand scheme of chromatica promo, there wasn't really any tbh, but in the grand scheme of things i guess we could say rain on me technically got the most. the VMAs, plus posting those videos with ariana could be counted as some kind of promo, especially since there was a pandemic going on

LittleMonster20 9,788
I really hope so, as I would love to see at least one performance of it seperate from Coachella and the LG7 tour. I also loved the recent interview Gaga did with Rolling Stone where she discussed Disease and the making of it, and I would love to see her do more interviews and talk about the song and video. jjkibum 15
It would be a waste of time and resources. I know songs can rebound, but they released this timely under the hope that it would have circumstantially been successful because the rest of her projects would be. New year, new slate, but they need to be ready to throw everything at the wall with whatever they release next. A few tiktoks and a late MV won't cut it for the next single. They want acoustic and pop-rock songs if anything that showcase her voice, more ballads if anything. Rain on Me was the only exception but that was purely circumstance from the pandemic because of it’s message, and Gaga’s active involvement and decision to use all her Chromatica promo spots to empower people in a tragic time. I don’t think this is true at all. If it were, Judas and Bloody Mary wouldn’t have blown up like they did in the last couple of years. Also songs like Sour Candy wouldn’t have pulled insane numbers just being promo singles. I do think acoustic/rock songs like DWAS are easier to digest and underproduced indie pop is certainly having its moment rn, but I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive. I truly think it was all just timing with HarleyQuinn, DWAS, and JFAD reviews. Chromatica Forever

I truly think it was all just timing with HarleyQuinn, DWAS, and JFAD reviews. Although I can’t explain Judas (I imagine it’s probably a nostalgia resurgence of people doing the choreography on TikTok) Bloody Mary and Sour Candy are easily explained. BM was because of the viral dance, which I’d argue the majority of people didn’t know it was a Gaga song nor did they know it was even Bloody Mary. They just simply called it the “Wednesday Dance” or “Dance With My Hands from Wednesday”. Most people I know who I spoke to about it didn’t know at all it was her and when I played the original for them most said they didn’t like it because it was so slow. Although it’s given her an acting job out of it which is great, they’ll probably even include Disease or something I reckon. Sour Candy’s numbers are because of the combined efforts of fans of both but mostly BP fans (KPop groups are known for having INSANE dedication to their faves) and the KPop fans probably thought it was a chance for massive easy BP hit (which I’d argue it would’ve been had covid not happened). DWAS however feels more organic, same goes for Shallow, they were organic hits people love because of the catchiness and their vocals. If it was purely because Gaga can get a hit with anything she’d have had top 10 hits with Jazz songs and Disease as well by now. This isn’t to say Gaga isn’t a hit maker she still is, but as someone only a few years younger than her and grew up with her, I can tell you she doesn’t have the hit with the new generation like she did with us. They connect more to her ballads and collaborations with younger artists than her pop songs. If we want her to have an easy hit she should just work with Taylor Swift tbh I think. 2
