Disease is not early by any means. And it's not released for distraction . It's already announced just before JFAD premiere in Venice that the song will be released in month of October, just no fixed date. She posted that herself.

If anything, Disease were supposedly released around the hype of JFAD and Halloween, but it backfires. The dark visuals kinda match lbr

Oh true. This now reminds me of what could have been :traumatica:

Disease is her best song ever but that Joker movie destroyed her and anything tied to her. :traumatica:

Considering it’s #15 on pop radio, I think they should drop a second single in January and promote both.

I mean the Song Is dead yeah. But not really. Its not a smash hit but It could def belong tò the top 20 or even 15, pushing It a bit. I still think It needs to reach its audience.

I Also think Shell move on but drag this One while promoting next single.

Im also kinda sad the acoustic disease made no noise. Maybe if done in a platform like bbc One lounge or but on her own its difficult. And its so not the tea for her fanbase. All those that wanted rock Gaga, It really might be and impossible Dream. Had this be some years ago It could have been a semi viral Moment, specially with linkin park slaying around the corner, you kinda search for music with those harmonies vibes.  Maybe Gaga Is really too much across the board for the promo tò hit. Different genres, different attitudes. On tik tok super Goofy funny, on YouTube super goth and morbid:rip: maybe make up your mind cause its not working

I think if we’ve learned anything from the last decade it’s that the general public just isn’t here for Gaga’s electronic pop songs anymore. They want acoustic and pop-rock songs if anything that showcase her voice, more ballads if anything. Rain on Me was the only exception but that was purely circumstance from the pandemic because of it’s message, and Gaga’s active involvement and decision to use all her Chromatica promo spots to empower people in a tragic time.

Disease (in my opinion) is her best upbeat song in forever and gives me everything I want from a Gaga song. But DWAS is also one of her best songs in forever and doesn’t take a lot of digestion like Disease does.

TLDR; she’ll probably drop a promo/second single in January to promote the summer tour and an album pre-order. It wouldn’t shock me if we get a Joanne 2.0 situation where the second single is an acoustic ballad and is bigger than the lead single.

i dont think so tbh. gaga's last 2 albums have kind of had this thing where the first single is kind of meant to be a fire starter, not the main event (PI, SL) and then the 2nd single is where she usually goes all in promo wise (MR, ROM)

It definitely was not intentional. MR wasn’t even originally the second single. It was released as a promo single. Its release as the second single and the music video release was completely botched after they saw it was doing decently in sales. Very reminiscent of TEOG and its video which, again, was a promo single turned 3rd single because Judas underperforming threw them off.

ROM on the other hand, was a planned single, but where was it promoted other than the VMAs?

Werent call out scores and reactions supposibly positive?

It seems like a heavy song that needs more time to reach ppl. Its not easy sudden catch on so i dunno if a little persistence can be good :oprah:

Gaga also doesnt not get hits effortlessly these days without promo... shallow had promo, DWAS had Bruno Mars help, ROM had Ariana assist as well

A solo hit take off organically effortlessly in the last 10 years without much effort I think only happened once with ARUTW if you think about it.

Once she broke into fame in late 2008 virtually everything she released was a hit up until Applause with the exeption of MTN. But since that peak ended, Gaga has always needed an extra nudge to get any hits in her career as a general rule

Not hating but simply stating the facts. Major solo hits without major efforts in the last 11 to 12 years have been almost non existant

I agree that Gaga is very promo sensitive, and Disease hasn't been promoted on mainstream media, but let's look at the numbers:

5.4 million debut on Spotify day 1, by day 3: 2.9 million, that's almost a 50% loss. Currently doing about 1 million a day.

Debuted at 27 in the hot100 *with* radio support, and it dropped to 58 on its second week. The song hasn't been back in the top 40.

Songs doing well at the beginning is usually hype-based. People are curious about an artist's new music and check it out. When they drop so drastically so quickly it means people didn't like what they heard.

The only metric where the song is doing very well is Pop radio, but that's it. To me that doesn't grant the effort of trying to push it much further.

By the way, I love the song, but I find it to be kind of like an expensive complex meal at a high end restaurant: amazing but definitely not for everyone.

idk kinda difficult to imagine an acoustic ballad for an album that what sounds to be mainly like lite Nine Inch Nails lbr, (at least from snippets we've heard),  it is so going to be out of place and major mood killer. If it's going to be slow songs, it needs to still have that industrial element for it to work.

Oh I agree but I can imagine interscope wanting her to put out another ballad after the success of DWAS. It also wouldn’t shock me if they encouraged her to do a project with Bruno as well.

Gaga will probably release the second single in January and promote it. Disease may slightly rise up like how Stupid Love did, if not a new peak. What is good about Disease is it is still getting positive callout in the radio unlike Stupid Love and Perfect Illusion, so I do have some hope in it. Nevertheless it's the best lead single since Applause and it has the potential to reincarnate like Judas and Bloody Mary.

I want second single. Disease is a good song, although not everyone likes heavy sounds. On one Polish radio station it's still doing well and I hear it every day! I hope second single will be something better than Disease. So I want like Bad Romance or Poker Face vibes.

Dont think so unless it somehow starts trending. Maybe it will be used in Wednesday season 2 and will see it become more popular then but for now I’m guessing a second single should be here by January? She hasn’t even done any remixes for Disease which I find odd.

If Gaga goes for yet another ballad and becomes a hit, I’m afraid no one will associate her with pop/dance anymore. Most pushed song from Joanne was Million Reasons, most successful song after this was Shallow (ROM was an happy exception, relying on Ariana’s streaming power as well) and then she followed that up with Hold My Hand. And obviously recently DWAS was and still is massive and  we also had Happy Mistake which I believe would had received a push if Joker 2 didn’t fail so badly. I think for LG7 maybe less focus on ballads regardless of how commercially successful it is.

I think this only applies to the USA audience tbh. They tend to gravitate towards her stripped, ballad material

Outside the states her weirder, pop sounding tracks have caught on.

Even Bloody Mary received radio play here in AUS which I didn't think was possible :bradley:
