I don't like sappy ballads/slow jams, and Eternal Sunshine got a lot of it, so brat is no brainer choice for me

Some of songs in brat are as personal as a song can be, they are simply not about romantic relationships. I feel Simpathy is a knife, Everything is romantic or Girl is so confusing much more personal than most of Ari's album (which is still pretty good, and I like It).

i wish i hated you is more personal than anything on brat and sympathy is a knife is on the same level of personal as true story

I mean both albums are deeply personal.

And I don't see why it's a competition?

i wish i hated you is personal.
Is it more personal than a song about a close personal friend who died far far too young and that Charli wishes she'd made different choices while they were alive? Well, if that's the take you've got then live your truth.

both are great albums!! Brat gets the edge for me

if anything, I wish Eternal Sunshine had a bit more attention, it's Ariana's best album since Sweetener. it had two number one hits and I'm still shocked it wasnt nominated for AOTY.

I wish I hated you & bye are some of my favorite Ariana Grande songs like ever

BRAT just captured the cultural consciousness in such a different way this year.

I do absolutely LOVE that the Brat gave us Charli X Ariana, Sympathy is a Knife remix still absolutely eats and it was so exciting to hear Ari on a song with production like that.

I'm over here hoping Charli introduced Ari to Caroline, they gag over Imogene together and decide to head to the studio together like can you imagine THAT album???

Unpopular opinion: both bland albums, both forgotten in two weeks (I'm being generous) and the praise for these albums show how the standards are low right now.

If I had to choose as if my life depends on it, I'd pick Ari's album because at least after listened to it my head won't hurt.

"both forgotten in two weeks"

this isn't even an opinion, it's factually wrong lol

Can I sub in Hit Me Hard and Soft? (That's my fav pop album of the year).

But if not, then I choose Brat.

I really like Ari as a person, but, for reasons I can't really understand, I've never been drawn to her musically. Never owned an album. Never bought a single. Don't stream her except when an album drops. And then it's once or twice only. (ROM being a huge exception of course.)

I've listened to Brat tons of times. It's a little too messy/autotuned for me to love love, but it's just so fun. I do like it a lot.

:gayhat:  I think Eternal Sunshine is better in terms of being a concept album, and feels more structured as a whole. However Brat is the superior work, both in terms of the strength of it's individual songs, and it's cultural impact. Honestly, hard to judge.
