I really reeeeally hate calculated, artificial efforts to get an artist’s song to perform better on the charts. If it’s good enough of a song, it doesn’t need all that & fans to buy 53 copies of the same song.

The thing is, songs like A Bar Song (No 1 for 18 weeks so far) is and continues to be No. 1 because of Radio. And Radio is basically a group of a few dozen people playing what they *think* people want.

Sure, requests might help, but it's not what gets song played, it's literally the will of those in power. You can look it up and you'll find testimonials of many radio DJs to back up this, radio listeners even report on hearing themselves requesting for songs on the radio *months* after they made a call, because what gets played is always decided beforehand by the same people on top. 

So what we, as a fandom, are pushing for right now, is for DWAS to have its rightfully deserved No. 1 spot on the Hot 100, because it really has been the No. 1 song played by people in the US for more than a couple of weeks, but unfortunately, given how the chart works, it hasn't reflected it yet.
