Stop trying to equate the random chart success of a song to your enjoyment of it. Gaga clearly doesn’t, so why should you? The "Chart doesn't matter" argument is so pretentious. It's one of the things that supports and extends one's career (Beyonce still has a great song at #1 in 2024), especially when Gaga is by no means an independent artist. There are too many examples how consecutive flop commercial performances will make one big star fall and fade away. That's what we're worrying. As for Gaga herself, she always enjoy attention, popularity and success. As for your second point, we don't even know if she considers Disease just a "fan-service song". I don't think people are in the mood for it anymore and want to cosy up for Christmas. Also thematically there might be an urge for more comforting songs with all that's going on worldwide. We are lucky Gaga had some regular hits over her +15 years in the business, let's be happy about it. She has literally the biggest song released this year running right now as well and still growing in success. And let's not forget other LG7 tracks will be released. And Disease could also still have its moment. She has clearly plans for it. Also let's not forget Lady Gaga tracks are often slow burners. Most of the TF / TFM hits tooks ages to smash. Millions Reasons took months to happen. Judas is now one of her biggest trendy cult songs while underperforming in 2011.
