juicyjuicy 1,643
We knew she wouldn’t be placed #1. Her artistry is never appreciated enough by mainstream media. They can fawn over their Taylor Swifts and Katy Perrys. We know what a once-in-a-generation type of artist we have the privilege of stanning. <3 1

I think she has a pretty undeniable effect on the music industry, is almost universally respected and acknowledged for her talent, has an iconic persona that everybody knows, is constantly making headlines, her albums and songs still chart and are highly anticipated, sells out WW stadium tours, plus she’s been around since the late 90s… in most people’s mind i imagine she is basically THE ultimate popstar. princedeeblebleble 512
I understand and support the fact that she took priority in her physical and mental health, but the past 7 years have been so bizzare where she seemed more like a businesswoman actresss who loves to cover jazz than her being the biggest popstar in the public eye.. We cannot deny her uniqueness, nerve and talet, her voice has been getting better and better and she put out some cool projects and absolutely proved shes vers as ****. But the public image she's been presenting has been so odd.. like between 2017 till now she publically preformed pop only once for the VMA.. otherwise its always some sort of movie ballad or a cover which I guess confuses people when she releases music. And even when she does release it, compare the promos she did for LFS and Harlequin to her pop music.. it speaks volumes. Not to mention her ig has been a borefest filled with Haus labs, odd sponsorships, endless teases that lead to nothing ending in a bunch of apology posts for not interacting with her fans. Compare this to most musicians where their feeds are this alive ecosystem that keeps you engaged, where the artistry bleeds into their daily life. Overall she's missing that drive that made her great which kinda bleads out to the fan support, or lack there of in terms of big number like Bey, Billie or Taylor enjoy. I imagined shed be like Kylie and Madonna who basically 40 years in their career still live and breathe their music, Gaga on the other side just seems to avoid it. Like she mostly loves to do her piano or jazz gig, which is fine, but I think we colletively wish she'd do the promo and appearances she did between 2009-2017, but at the end of the day she is a big enough name to not have to do it. And that is probably why she's #5 while she could easily be at 1, considering shes probably the most creative and talented bish on the top 10 list. But, again, what is the concrete effect (impact) of her as an artist on the music industry? Does she have any kind of impact on artists turning to explore a certain genre of music just because she did? Or on fashion, the visual culture of music videos and the ways of approaching a live performance? This is something that happens with Gaga even with her less “successful” or supposedly less “culturally relevant” projects (Chromatica, which even inspired Renaissance). I dare say that even T. Swift has a major impact in that sense (the emergence of young artists who clearly follow in her footsteps is an example of that). But can someone explain to me if and how that happens in the case of Beyoncé?
