I'm sorry but if we are talking about the greatest pop star of this century (since 2000), it's definitely lady gaga, and I'm not biased.

Beyonce may have the moves and the voice, and taylor may have the popularity (?), but gaga is truly THE popstar. I'd be okay if she was 5th on best singers or whatever, but when it comes to being a popstar no one comes close.

I don't agree. The whole premise of a POP star is that you need to be POPular... And from a popularity standpoint Taylor Swift will likely be #1 on the list. If it was based on originality, or talent, that's a different thing. But here it's based primarily off charts, and cultural impact as well. Gaga was very culturally impactful in the early 2010s but her music doesn't really create the same conversations Beyoncé or Taylor do anymore (Disease debut is a good example) and her movies also aren't captivating audiences every time (see Joker reviews). 5 feels very fair and well-deserved to me, personally.

Taylor has a big cult following but trust and believe outside her fanbase she literally has no impact let alone respect from the general public. I have yes to meet ANYONE outside of her fanbase who genuinely thinks she’s a good artist.

i dont care, it is a list based on success relating to Billboards charts and presence i assume, Gaga might have been not the most successful popstar this century so far, but she never came to just conform to popstardom and be the most successful in that field, but she IS the best Pop Artist of this century, nobody matches her artistry and creativity

Glad they picked awesome pictures...especially that first one, when she performed JD piano version. It really looks immaculate. I really wanted DWAS to be #1... it should really be on that list, aside from BR. Sigh.

i can't believe t*ylor sw*ft will be ranked higher than her...literally what an insult. :selena:

the only popstar acceptable to be ranked higher than gaga is beyoncé imo.

You can't deny Taylor is one of the greatest pop stars hough.. she is cookie cutter and vanilla yes but isn't that what popstars often are? Gaga managed to get #5 and retain such an immense level of success despite being a generally divisive artist/persona.

Success doesn’t equal greatness and that’s what a lot of people fail to understand. McDonald’s is one of the most popular food chains on Earth but is it the greatest? That’s debatable.

Also the point you just made about her being cookie cutter and vanilla simply argued why she shouldn’t be ranked higher than Gaga.

There’s nothing unique about her or her music. She can’t sing that well, she can’t dance, her lyricism is uninspiring (to me anyway) but yet she’ll be placed higher than someone who truly pushed the envelope on what it means to be a popstar in the 21st century and has the talent and iconography to back it up. It’s rigged mama.

you can serve it to me ancient city style...

You're missing the point. I know a lot of people who aren't Gaga fans and don't find her music or performances engaging. It doesn't matter if people outside Taylor's fanbase find her irrelevant – the reality is that her entire fanbase is so large that it's got a chokehold on the entire media industry (newspapers, etc.) as well. She IS the cultural conversation at this point in time. Even all those new artists, Sabrina, Chappell and Olivia, are all basically moulded in her image. (And I say this as someone who can't stand her, so not biased).

Definitely not, but she has been around for longer and has impacted culture more than Gaga. I’m literally Gaga’s biggest stand and will defend her like a mother to my grave, and don’t like Beyonce’s music in the least, but I’m not delusional enough to believe Gaga has has more cultural relevance than Beyonce (unfortunately).

What exactly is Beyoncé's impact? I genuinely ask.

Have you seen her in concert? You'd have the answer if that'd be the case

No. But my question was about the cultural impact of Beyoncé mentioned in the comment. Making ‘impactful’ shows or performances does not imply having an impact on the cultural zeitgeist. Again, what exactly is that cultural impact? It's not shade, I'm really asking because I can't figure it out.
