To me it exemplifies that the music video depicts her mind. The 1986 cars, the 1980’s horror themes (madness and chaos in broad daylight), the houses crushing her towards the end of the video showcasing how her internal pressures and brain can turn against her… everything in the video is what is going on in her head and how she ultimately learns how to deal with her darkness. Hold on this was intentional. Oh this unlocks new layers to the video.. Is she saying this all began when she was born? She's been this way since birth? Does this mean the video is set in 1986? Or is it just another interesting detail to add to the dream-like setting/mild surrealism that doesn't mean much?
