Aren't those ads shown before showtime? And I enjoy watching most of the trailers they show before the movie starts... I see it as part of the experience lol

What kind of commercials do you guys get in the USA before movies? In France we get trailers for other movies that will be out soon or are currently in theaters :omg:

Surprised they aren't playing ads in the middle of the movie to make up the budget shortfall from their flop

You can show up 20 minutes after the ticket’s start time for a show and won’t miss a lick of the move.  I must have sat thru 25 minutes of commercials and previews before Joker.  Aside from $35 popcorn and soda another reason to like streaming unless I am dying to see a film like Gaga.

Well, Mr Philips, films don't need to be 2+ hours every time.

Drop it

Lmao Oh, can he be any more insufferable? I wish Gaga would’ve never worked with him, but I’m sure she learned what to avoid in the future, when it comes to her acting career.

as a chronically late person, i love the trailers. i go to the movies a lot and know i can get there early every few times to watch all the trailers, but the other times it’s helpful when i’m running late. even with 20 minutes of trailers, i’ll see people coming in 10 minutes into the movie, which blows my mind. i cannot stand missing the beginning of a movie.

i think a good way to get ppl coming back is to crackdown on talking and texting. some people fully act like they’re in their living room, and it ruins the escapism

I’m used to getting about 15 minutes of movie trailers prior to the movie in Mexico, but I’ve been to US theaters a couple of times before and it always feels like there’s a huge 30 minute ad before the movie starts. Not sure if that applies to most chains, but it did feel a bit much.

I understand that their business model is more dependant on ad revenue though.

I actually agree with this. They show them bright ass banking ads and annoying car commercials and it just is too jarring on the big screen.

I slightly understand.  My movie theater has 15 minutes of trailers and commercials which start AFTER showtime.  Meaning 7:30 movie is actually 7:45.  It bums my husband and I out.  We’ve drank half our beer and our high starts to die down.

In the UK before the movie trailers they show regular tv commercials and sometimes PSA's, me and my friends still remember seeing one when we went to see a kids film and it gave us nightmares (it was about how speeding kills)

but the lights turning off, the screen widening and the movie trailers before movies are one of the best parts of the experience :messga: especially for horror movies with other horror movie trailers

unless he means the commercials before the movie trailers but in that case who even cares and wants to sit and watch a blank screen if you're early :air:

at my local theater they have commercials during the trailers, for example last time I went there was a PS5 game commercial right before the Coke commercials and please silent your phone stuff started to transition into the actual movie playing.

EDIT: at least I believe that's what he's talking about, I don't mind trailers bc I like to see what's ab to come out, but I agree that I'm sick of commercials and ads during that time frame.
