darkgaga 3,951
Did they add it because it had potential and listeners like it or because Bobby sent them enough money?

Economy 48,150
Gaga had another single that had a record for most adds in the past in a single day or week. Was it BTW or Applause? I cant remember
OMF 3,248
It will be interesting to see how this tracks leading into Xmas season with Mariah and co around the corner. Maybe it will be the cure to the holidays disease to many.

But if I remember correctly, Applause is her biggest ever radio hit so maybe that’s where the confusion comes in Edited November 1, 2024 by ALGAYDO 2

Maybe i’m wrong. Edited November 1, 2024 by selenalavigne Ready to Stan LG7

I think I recall Applause being her biggest radio hit is more of a technicality than actuality. If im not mistaken, at some point after Gagas commercial peak of 2009 to 2011 but before applause came out jn 2013 more radio stations were added to tracking resulting in higher numbers even if songs werent actually necessairily bigger.

OMF 3,248
Gaga banks on the second single for the biggest push. Disease is a fantastic first single and MV, but there is A LOT more coming as she said. 1

Kayi 1,777
Guys idk if my dream is premonitory but I dreamed that I heard at a popular french radio "Disease". The rest of my dream won't probably be premonitory tho it was too quirky lol. I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

On purpose I believe. I did read something a few years back taking about this, and not just with Gaga. BTW the song nearly overshadowed the entire album. SL was obviously not pushed to the degree of ROM, in terms of budget/visuals and promo. PI was also so different from the rest of Joanne and it was MR which got the biggest push. I haven’t seen any credible evidence that this is actually a release strategy. There’s absolutely no downside starting the momentum with a successful lead single, so it doesn’t make sense from a marketing standpoint to purposely kneecap it. The second single performing better than the lead is just something that happens. And it’s not necessarily guaranteed either. Let’s not forget, Do What U Want didn’t go top 10. The fact that Million Reasons had the SuperBowl promotion was the only thing that saved it from peaking outside of the top 10. Rain On Me had the hype of the Ariana collab and an incredible video but not necessarily more promo. It didn’t last that long in the top 10. They just seem like they were more favored by the label because of how short lived PI and SL were, but considering the rate at which those two tanked, why would they spend resources to promote them? They absolutely had to recalibrate. Reminder that MR was originally just a promo single. We don’t know what really went on with the MR music video but a lot of people claimed it was rushed because it took two months to release it after MR became a single. Crossing my fingers that the same doesn’t happen to LG7. Edited November 2, 2024 by Emvee
