What is art, quality music, to you?

Isn't good, quality music worth paying for?  Isn't commercial success a reflection of that?

Ppl continue to push the narrative that if its generic and liked by the masses its poor quality :rip:

Like only a few things about quality are less subjective like if your vocals are off key or production is awful sound quality etc

Other than that for the most part there is no factual formula that says something is high quality or poor quality. Art is not math with a right or wrong answer

When ppl b*tch a really popular song is of poor quality i just say a lot of ppl disagree with you and their opinion is just as valid as the critics

We ALWAYS receive quality from Gaga.

I still find Perfect Illusion as a single mediocre to this day but i guess its a matter of opinion.

And thats not the only time ive been disapointed but its probably the worst :teehee:

Quality! absolutely quality. It's kind of sick and sad to just vicariously live through someone else's success, regardless of whether or not they're putting out good work. It reminds me of voting for someone with false promises. Quality should always be the goal, that's the whole point of being an artist - to produce authentic art and speak your unique voice.

Quality of course, it's annoying that at this point LM are so pressed by numbers and streams, Gaga has already had that kind of success MANY times since the beginnig of her career, she's not a new artist and she doesn't even care about numbers since 2013 (if you know what I mean), I personally enjoy how disruptive and passionate she is with her craft, she's not doing things to satisfy people's expectations, at this point I feel that she is on a different path and it's okay because it's been wonderful for her career, she's not seen as a pop singer anymore, nowdays she is recognized as a well-rounded artist by the general public and not just her fanbase, and basically that's how you build an Icon status  :iamfair:

I don't really care about charts success at all.

I'd rather have music that I love than songs that chart well but I never listen to (coughdwascough) :diane:

A couple little liars here I see voting for quality over chart success but crying that Gaga isn't currently in Times Square with a bullhorn offering or*l for streams.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

unpopular opinion but Disease really sounds so original that its so forgettable and its a good thing cuz it makes you feel good when you hear it again cuz it doesn't stay in your head and you wont get sick of it.

That said, they're definitely going towards quality over commercial success this time. Its like the opposite of Chromatica and more like BTW

I am glad not even a 7% chose the commercial option. Despite everything happened these 2 days (d*mn, feels like a month passed by :ladyhaha:) I still have hopes in this fanbase :billie::kiss:

as a person who listen to albums i care about quality. Now i can wait for Lg7 knowing that we will get quality. Disease Dancing GoE and Abra are amazing! This album will be my most streamed album in 2025 I know that.
Also back to OP
I listen to albums that are good more than albums that are more successful commercially (songs too)

edit: in fact. I think that commercial success can have a negative impact on a song (your pleasure of listening to it)

Why does people have to choose one or the other? Both quality can exist in the same space. Lots of music over the years have been the proof of this. Even Gaga herself did it.

I want Gaga to have commercial success, as far as quality, she's always going to deliver. I want her to get a #1 so haters will shut up (they won't, I know)
