  1. 1. What would you prefer, an awesome song with poor commercial reception, or the opposite?

Seeing how 99% of the fanbase agrees that Disease is awesome but at the same time the meltdowns I have seen are the more intense I have seen in this site in the last years, I wonder, if you had to choose, which one would you prefer?

P.S Didn't add the "both" option because that wouldn't be fun :reductive:

I actually don't remember, but I think Shallow was a bit more divisive right? Even myself didn't quite like it at first but grew on me astronomically

They are not mutually exclusive.

I know... I am taking this to the extreme. I didn't want to add the "why can't we have both?" option because everybody would choose that

Bestie, it is not even close :brat:. The only real "Disease" meltdown I saw, was that guy saying that he was done with her, if she didn't release the video within the next hours.

Other than that, people in here are being super chill about it :laughga:. Even the thread about Disease losing streams is very lighthearted compared to anything during ARTPOP.

I think this forum is behaving quite nicely, this time around.

We ALWAYS receive quality from Gaga.

Sure, but I think we didn't reached this consensus where everybody seems to love the song with SL or PI, for example

I think that quality and success are nice things to have together.

I was not here for Applause yet. OMG I think I would have gone under depression if that was way worst:ladyhaha:

The purpose of art is to be exposed to the public. The more people are enjoying / witnessing the art, the better. Without audience, art has no meaning.

Commercial success is essential for longevity, more opportunities and artistic growth. Success doesn't equal low quality. You can succeed with a very meaningful and well-crafted song and you can underperform with a bubblegum.

Disease may underperform for a bunch of reasons. Does this really affect us? In a certain degree no. But we are fans, so we crave more music, more aesthetics, more visuals. Without significant success we will end up with less content. Obviously, we should support the artist who is giving joy and fun to our everyday lives,  a thank you and to give them (and mainly the record company) reasons to give us more content.

Stop the drama, start the music (STREAM YOU B*TCHES).

When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright

What is art, quality music, to you?

Isn't good, quality music worth paying for?  Isn't commercial success a reflection of that?

Do your own research.
