Thoughts on Disease?

I'm excited for the video and the aesthetics to come. I need to further listen to it and it definitely become a favorite, quite the same it was with SL. Feel like her biggest hits are the 2nd and 3rd singles as that has been the case since Joanne.

Ok? That's not Gaga's lane lol. She is the artist singer-songwriter, not the feel good guilty pleasure pop star. Her peers are Charli, Billie and Chappell. Now tell me honestly that Disease measures up to where they are heading?

And this is not an attack lol. Those are just my thoughts. I think she's falling behind and is growingly associated with standalone releases vs. creating interesting pieces of work that people take seriously even without big promo campaigns.

Tbh it’s everything I thought it was going to be/sound like. I do wish she went even harder with the screamo/rock vocals and production though. And went even darker overall.

I love charli, she’s an all time favorite for me as is brat. But let’s be honest, you think this is beneath songs like guess, Apple, 360, songs I bop to all the time but either lyrically or sonically they’re not some magnum opus

I thought Harlequin was incredible and the LG7 Notorious Being/Abracadabra/Shadow snippets slapped

I'm glad other people are enjoying it and I hope it's a hit, but I'm not getting what everyone else is getting from this song. Perfect Illusion/Aura demo with the screamo vocals were my favourite lead singles too (I know Aura wasn't the lead single but it was the introduction to ARTPOP), so I'm surprised it's not working for me.

Also, if I'm being honest and push through my cognitive dissonance - those lyrics are quite bad.

Edit: Every chance, and I pray to god this happens, I'll wake up tomorrow and have an epiphany that this song is sonically gold.

Edit2: The production sounds off too. There's some good stuff in there but it's muddy and lost in the track. Chorus doesn't stand out enough from the verses, I wish the backing vocals were louder in the mix too

I think this is really solid-I love her darker stuff so this was really kinda perfect to me. I love the escalation of the song and how intense a lot of it sounds. It’s a return to form for her while also sounding different and unique.  Not the deepest song lyrically, but I think it  falls into the category a lot of her lead singles do, where it’s a bit of a more mainstream song, and we’ll get some deeper stuff within the album itself.

But honestly I was blown away when I first heard it, and it makes me much more excited for the whole album. This is the exact type of stuff I really want her to make so it’s pretty perfect to me lol

I totally hear what you mean. I was team Meh at first, but the second listening changed my mind. My main issues come from the mix. Every parts seems mashed together instead of creating an effect of dept. I wish I was more surrounded by the instrumental when listening through headphones. Her voice seems a bit behind too. And that's my two cents, but I would've loved to hear the ending guitars more or like give us a full wicked solo. Other than that, the song is playing on repeat.
