You already know that Gaga has fibromyalgia though happy that she is almost free from it

This is a very sweet thought but I fear you may be misunderstanding what the song is about a little.

This whole song is a rather grand metaphor for romance and eroticism, it isn’t really about an actual disease. She’s saying loving her, sleeping with her, devoting yourself to her is so good that it can get rid of all of the darkness in life.

Please, it's not like we're listening to her private voice memos. :cryga:

It's a song that she shared with the public to be listened to, deciphered and interpreted. Anything less would actually be disrespectful to her artistry imho!

Songwriting credits don’t just go to the lyricists. For all we know she could’ve written the lyrics on her own and the other three contributed the melody, chords, etc. Songwriting credits go to all parts of the song making process, not just the words.

hi, have you never done a literary analysis in school? This is not a unique experience to Gaga, LMs, or even pop stars. Bodies of art have always been dissected and analyzed. Humans have a longing to relate and a need to belong, and in art we look to relate to the artist to feel that sense of belonging. Also, we're talking about a woman who writes songs about pretending to cum during sex (Pokerface) and masturbation (Dancin in Circles). Come on.

Most of the time the producer presents a beat and lyrics are then written over it. (In that case, the producer gets a writing credit for the beat and the lyricist gets a credit for lyrics). At some point each individual person will listen and they'll shoot ideas back and forth. "What if the ah-ah was pitched up in the end rather than down?" "What if we replaced this instrument here with this?" "What if we loop this line here rather than this line?"

Also, it's closer to BR than you might think. A lot of the lyrical structure is the same. "I this I that" to "If you then I" in the next line from both songs. She also repeats things pretty often "I could/can" from Disease vs "I want" in BR.

BR:

I want your horror, I want your design

Cause you're a criminal as long as your mine

Dis:

I could play the doctor, I can cure your disease

If you were a sinner, I could make you believe

Well if you want to see it this way..

I think the lyrics were overall just much better and more creative in BR, like all those Hitchcock references and the concept was very bold too

Disease is a good song but aside from some similar structures, the content is not that interesting imo. It's like The Cure 2.0 but darker.

Still i think it sounds good but definitely can't give it a 10/10.

I think the different interpretations are really fascinating. My GP coworkers I talked to yesterday who know nothing at all about Gaga assumed the song is about addiction and drugs trying to entice you into curing all your worries and inner demons.

Personally, I think that the song is about how Gaga cured Stefani. She said in an interview that "Gaga" is the persona that she created to transform herself in every characters she wants to play, that it helped her to deal with her traumas. To me this song is the encounter between Stefani and Gaga.

I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

for me the song really sounds like something kinky that a person in a Nurse-Halloween-costume would say to their lover :ohwell:
something like: "I can smell your disease - and your disease is the horniness" *pulls out whip* :derpga:

I think once she went thru ARTPOP mega bad press than came back bigger than ever; then basically just gave us chromatica..

I think this is Gaga singing to Stefani. Saying we r one. Stop running from me. U created me to be brave when u needed it: and I know u want a normal life but Michael taught u that u can.

there’s no more separation between Gaga and Stefani. They saved each other.

This is like hold my hand but to herself and her own vision.

It's gonna be Gaga running over Stefani in the music video and that's why she has black hair in the promo :bon:

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I think it's really weird how parasocial we as a fanbase get in times like these when we try to decipher her artistry.

Oh I actually love that theory - The lyrics even sound like Michael referring specifically to Chromatica themes and songs, like "no more tears to cry" referring to Rain on Me, "runnin out of medicine" referring to 911, "tortured when you sleep" could be Replay, etc.

I noticed that!!!

In the Vogue interview she said that LG7 is basically about her mental struggles like Chromatica but from a different perspective, so Disease is about her being tortured/haunted by her issues but trying to find a cure, or at least hoping to be able to. Kinda playing someone who sees her suffering and tries to lift her up

Looks like the writing credits are by alphabetical order but not the producing credits. Could Gaga be the main producer of the song?
