I swear, this whole “the GP isn’t gonna like it” rhetoric is so tired. GAGA HAS NEVER CONFORMED TO THE GP. These are the same people that thought Shallow and DWAS would be flops too, like come on Also, people complaining about the lyrics… yeah, it’s not groundbreaking material but it’s perfectly serviceable for the song. This song doesn’t need Shakespearean levels of writing. The vocals and production already do the work. Istg are some of y’all even fans of hers at this point?? At the second listening it had already entered my head and I think this is an indication of a good success. It's amazing how this girl can go from a jazz-like album to such a dark piece in less than a month! Anyway, when my brother listened to it the first and only time, his comment was: "Insomma..." which in Italian is translatable like "meh"... so, my fear is that the GP may not understand this song and not appreciate it fully. One concern I have is related to Gaga's silence... why doesn't she post anything? If I remember correctly, with SL she had posted tweets with written like: "45 minutes left, 30 minutes left etc..." who knows what promotion strategy she has in mind this time.
