whoever's decision it was to make it a musical should be fired

this wouldve done way better without the music

Nah, the plot is dogshit. It’s absolutely not the fact that it was a musical that dragged this down

At this point I have to recognize I got excited about this movie because of Gaga, but I remember thinking it was a terrible idea when the rumors that se was going to be cast first started.

I think most people already decided that the movie was gonna be bad before seeing it and there's no turning back from that.

This feels so accurate. When the movie was announced, Twitter and Reddit were full of people being like "Ugh, a musical? With Lady Gaga? This is going to be ****, I'm not seeing it" and now those same people are riling each other up (a lot probably without even seeing it) because they feel validated and they're getting clicks and the movie is made into some kind of catastrophe it really isn't

I’m traumatized.

Never hyping up a movie Gaga is in again until she stops working with clueless male directors who edit out her talent

It’s wait and see for me from now on

Ngl In my opinion I don't think she is that great of an actor like somewhere between fine and good and my worry is these films get sloppy editing because of certain scenes with her in not holding up causing them to be cut. But that's just a maybe suspicion of mine,

She did have some good scenes in this film though but others were strange to say the least

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, it’s a bit of a blip but oh well, look at Madonna when it came to film, all unbelievably awful, at least A Star is Born was well received. We move on, bring on LG7. I also thought she was great in the movie but to be honest, the plot and build up never really landed, it was a bit odd how it was sequenced.

Same feelings :( at least I’m enjoying Harlequin album, because Joker FAD Soundtrack is unlistenable. Acting was good, but the storyline was flat. For me it was too much singing depressing songs (mostly performed by Phoenix) and there was no character development of Lee… I feel disappointed after yesterdays premiere.

lol. There was a ton of character development for Lee, which is what makes it a little frustrating because I would have loved to see her story even more. But the movie ain’t called „Lee“. I feel kinda sad for you not understanding her character, maybe give it a second watch :)

Did you get the same feeling that there was a reversal of roles taking place in this version of their relationship?

Thinking about my experience yesterday, I'm now under the impression that Gaga's version of Harley was pulling some strings outside of Arkham and essentially set him up so that in the end he got what he deserved. I know sticking the lore of the comics, it was the other way around where Joker somewhat manipulated Harley to an extent and she develops this unhealthy obsession with his madness from being his psychiatrist.

Part of me wonders if she truly did have him setup for that ending, but I will say that I was disappointed some of the other scenes she had got cut completely. But I'm also wondering if maybe she truly was mad herself because when she tells him "we weren't going anywhere. All we had was the fantasy" that right is what led me to believe that maybe she was playing into the fantasy and because he decided not to reciprocate any longer she felt betrayed.

Yes, I had a similar feeling. The staircase scene really brought it home and you could tell in her eyes that something truly flipped in that moment. Arthur is a lonely, broken man. He stumbled into the role of Joker that was larger what he could handle, where Lee on the other hand was more sinister and really dwelled in the initial fame she received as the girlfriend-of

SLAYing

I saw the first day first show and the movie is horrendous...except Gaga who has slayed it ..I wish her character had more depth and she had more screentime..!

I'd never understand wtf was Todd smoking when he decided to make this a musical..it's just nonsensical and killed the entire vibe of the dark direction that this movie had !

I can’t believe Joker 2 is getting dragged way more than Madame Web, Morbius, Suicide Squad etc. I don’t think it’s THAT bad as a movie with all of it’s messy writing but fans are taking the musical aspect way too personal.
