Which tour was darker in terms of aesthetic?

Hi y’all

So my mom and I went to The Chromatica Ball years ago and we went to The Mayhem Ball last weekend as well. We were talking about which show was darker in terms of aesthetic and visuals. 
I personally found Mayhem to be darker but she thought Chromatica was darker. 
What would you guys say?

I think it depends on what kind of "dark" you're talking about. Chromatica Ball had a brutalist aesthetic, which made it feel cold and intense (despite all the dance music). But the MAYHEM Ball definitely leans into the gothic/spooky feel, which is traditionally "darker."

I think mayhem ball basically feels like a grand Halloween masquerade party, and Chromatica Ball felt like a prison especially with the opening act being her locked into her costume with just her head and arms poking out .

i enjoy the lack of a strict storyline that the Chromatica ball had, and that made it feel more serious to me. The concept of chromatica as an album is also darker than mayhem which is actually quite celebratory throughout the album

The Chromatica Ball imo. Imo it's Gaga's most poetic show. It felt claustrophic and the opening emphasised that. I've also never seen any tour use material that resembled concrete for their staging.

The Chromatica Ball is her darkest show, in my opinion. It's not always particularly obvious, when looking at the setlist or promotional materials, but something about it just felt oppressive and cold. The Babylon/Free Woman segment is, in my opinion, the only segment that feels even remotely joyful or celebratory–even Stupid Love and Rain on Me managed to somehow feel bleak and dark (and I mean this as a huge compliment).

The Mayhem Ball feels more fantastical to me. It's like stepping into some biblical Renaissance painting. There may be darkness, but it's so exaggerated and indulgent that it feels operatic and awe-inspiring.

The Chromatica ball starts dark and never really enters the light. 

It opens in essentially a prison sequence and the ending felt very mad max aesthetically. Like by the end of the show, Gaga hasn't escaped the prison and Hold My Hand as the closing number isn't a "light" song. 

Whereas The Mayhem Ball's narrative is ultimately one of revival and redemption done via gothic tropes. Its a journey about healing where as Chromatica was fully grounded in pain.

Chromatica Ball is definitely I think her darkest tour. BTWB after that. I think the silly campy moments of BTWB but it below TCB for that reason.

It was brutal…ill never get over that knick knight intro and those heavy synths…i was shaking

i didn’t attend Chromatica but it definitely seemed darker to me
