I’m so mad that the film didn’t end with her getting him arrested and her dance song on the stairs.

and then they kill Joker?

wut?

great movie but wut in the…

She has enough star power to ask for rewrites. She should use it because exactly the same happened with House of Gucci...

Writing and director's decisions on both movies suck... She's really good but the final products were mid to say the least because of writers and directors :saladga: I don't want her to work with Ridley or Todd ever again... What a waste :fatcat:

I'm glad almost everyone at least saw what she's capable of and how talented she is...

At least she got critical acclaim, those 10 million and we got an amazing companion album out of this mess of a movie...

Todd, when I catch you... :patrizia:

She needs to go for some low budget / psychological drama next time, please no more big blockbusters for a while.

Modern Ecstasy2

It’s good in my opinion.

I really did not like the musical component.
Overall I liked the first one much more.

Feel like Gaga was robbed.

The general atmosphere in the theatre at the end was “meh”.

Spoiler Free Thoughts:

- Gaga's acting was phenomenal, but the movie was a major letdown.
- There was no real plot, just a rehash of the first movie’s events with nothing new to offer.
- Harley had no character arc, and Gaga was underused with many scenes cut.
- The pacing was off throughout.
- There were way too many musical numbers, to the point where some felt unnecessary.
-The musical numbers, while great on their own, didn’t effectively show their shared delusions. They started and ended randomly with awkward blackouts, making the editing feel messy.
- Some might call the movie a courtroom drama, but the guilt debate was pointless. Everyone knew he was guilty, making the entire sequence a waste of time.
- The ending made no sense at all.

I’m disappointed because the first movie had an actual plot and something meaningful to say unlike this one. I don’t understand how this script was approved.

:(

<Spoilers ahead, don't proceed if you haven't seen the movie>

I don't think Gaga was under-utilized, I was surprised to see her as much as I did. But the only reason I enjoyed the movie was because of her acting and the music from Harlequin. It was really fun to see when each track came up during the movie, they all showed up besides

Spoiler

Smile, Good Morning and Happy Mistake.

That being said it definitely felt like a musical and imo there was just too much of it. The amount of times they played/referenced 'Oh when the Saints' and 'That's Entertainment'... they even put in 'World on a String' twice, Jesus. Gaga was the right choice for the movie and she elevated the movie with her album like no other actress could.

But was the movie right for her? Lee's arc was so weak. So she's just a

Spoiler

rich girl that took a trip to the asylum because she's obsessed with the joker? And the very predictable lie about being pregnant?

I understand that this is a different universe but the only thing harley quinn about her was her tights. /exaggerated

Overall, it started off great. The pacing was good for the first 15-20 minutes but they just made a movie about

Spoiler

an uneventful a** trial where the joker does nothing creative to defend himself, gets back into prison and gets shanked to death. All while getting dumped by some crazy pathological liar that he met in the asylum.

There were so many missed opportunities. The waltz which I thought would have been more signifcant was tiny and barely meant anything. The explosion and escape from the trial could have led to so much more.

The plot could have gone deeper, the visuals could have gone harder but it was just some imaginary musical numbers inside a guy's head with a mediocre ending. (Which Todd himself spoiled during the conference in Venice fyi)

I'm gonna watch it again and hope it grows on me like HoG did. But I will say I do not like DC movies so maybe I disliked the pacing/plot because of it.

You’re absolutely correct in her being a big enough star to ask for rewrites. But based off the pap pics of the filming she was given more and they ultimately did what they wanted and cut her. She can ask for rewrites and more content but if she wasn’t suppose to be a true stand out performance in the first place then editing is going to take charge.

Tbh my thoughts are maybe that they weren’t happy with her performance overall and that’s why they cut so much out of it?

Totally could be. They either didn’t like it or never wanted her there in the first place. Either way I’m just kinda jaded I was so hyped for three years and then this is the product. On to LG7 I guess.

That won't make sense since they casted her on their own accord.

The full scene at the stairs would've been way better and she was singing like her life depended on it... I just can't believe they cut that and kept most of the movie lol... She was definitely one of the best things in the movie but most of her scenes felt incomplete.

How is it possible that no one said something about that when they were testing the movie? Without considering what they cut, the editing was bad too :dom:

It seems like they rushed it but they had sooo much time to release a polished final product :saladga:

I know :ladyhaha: Maybe he should just do that and let someone else direct lol jk... I think it's beautiful but it lacks something + Bradley carried ASIB, I think it was mostly him

They definitely did not make the right decisions

phantasmas

it was interesting to see where the songs from Harlequin were gonna fit into the movie, or where they transpired from?

i stayed away from spoilers and trailers in general but the album ended up laying out the story like i thought it would be so the album lowkey spoiled ?? idk if that makes sense lol

and Gonna Build a Mountain is still that gworl :bon:

Warner Bros had a huge hand in casting her. Joaquin and Todd both discussed wanting Joaquin’s wife as Lee three years ago when it was announced that Gaga being in the movie was in a thing.

He was because he was half owner of the production company with Bradley that produced ASIB. Just like Bradley was credited as a producer for the first Joker. They dissolved their production company in 2020-21 and now are no longer credited in each others work. Maestro was in development before they dissolved but I’m not sure how Todd is credited for that film
