The music comes first. She respects and honors her artistry and that is so admirable and rare these days! I thought Bewitched was a cover too! And I was happily surprised when I found out it wasn’t. I just love how Laufey blends jazz and classical music! I’m going to listen to Watertown as you said. Thanks! I’m not talented at all I like to say I’m disciplined and stubborn, but I’ve never been a natural. I have to make many attempts until I finally succeed in something Love the music not the bling

Gaga's love for jazz may be best expressed by the events of September 2, 2017. She gave a full pop concert at Fenway Park in Boston in the evening. One would think she would want to crash after 2 hours on stage. But no, she went from Fenway to the House Of Blues and did a full jazz set there! Some people recorded on their phones. And wow, the video shows how great she is at singing swing jazz. Watch on YouTube: I live outside the space time continuum. 2 1
Reality 71,870
The 2nd day numbers are disappointing, but I don't think she released this album with the intention of it being a viral hit. Realistically speaking, those of us who enjoy when Gaga does jazz and other genres other than electronic/dance pop are in the minority. She knows that. I think it'll do better when Joker actually releases next week, and as others have already said here, I can see this being a slow-burn album for most people. I think over time, most will learn to appreciate the album more. What did Gaga say? "I'm not supposed to be appreciated now. You'll all appreciate me 20 years from now." I hope her jazz stuff will be considered equally legendary and impressive over time. Monet 825
It's infuriating how some fans label this project as jazz and don't even give a try. The Joker, Happy Mistake, Close to You, Folie a Deux, the MARVELOUS World on a String, these are not jazz songs, right? Seriously, World on a String is so mesmerizing Edited September 29 by Monet 2 1
bubbletea 364
Its doing less numbers than 143… the #karma for making 3727282 threads trashing Katy #mwuahahhaa
Juanjo 1,928
The fact ya’ll are worried about numbers! This is a side project. Gaga and Michael financed it, Interscope helped with some promo, but that’s it. Gaga is not worried about how well it does sales and charts-wise. 5

Gaga does such a great job putting her own take on the song. It's a jazz standard from 1932 and was recorded by many jazz greats including Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, and Tony Bennett. Tony sings it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8Zi1lniiRk The other songs you list are not jazz. Also I think Oh, When the Saints and Gonna Build a Mountain are not jazz songs too.

She has been showing so much joy and satisfaction for everything she created in the last years. When she shared the snippets in Paris she was so excited about it! I’m sure we’ll see this same passion with LG7 3

Depends on the performance/recording. A jazz recording of "When The Saints" was made on May 13, 1938, by Louis Armstrong and his orchestra. A Sammy Davis Jr. recording of Gonna Build A Mountain is sometimes listed as jazz. https://www.discogs.com/release/2719889-Sammy-Davis-Jr-Gonna-Build-A-Mountain . So whether or not those are jazz songs could go either way. I live outside the space time continuum.

Oh, When the Saints has intense drums and the beat gives me rock vibes. Gonna Build a Mountain sounds like soul/blues to me.
