With a different director who committed to a more campy direction maybe puolo could have worked better. He was committed Adam driver on the hand maybe we can forgive how stiff and bland he seemed and blame it on how his character was poorly written but why did it seem like he forgot halfway through the movie that he was supposed to have an accent? Gaga and salma chewed and that's all that saved that movie. direction and script were all over the place tbh, you’re right that we can’t even blame the actors since Ridley himself didn’t know what the heck he was doing with the film and its characters lol. and the third act was atrocious… they really wasted such a fierce cast on such a mediocre film… :_) 7

Vitleysingur 13,735
I don’t know why y’all still complaining. Let’s be clear - she only got to do Joker cos she needs some inspiration for LG7. Dreams of you and me are in the dirt.

Big stars usually do not go down that route. Not saying Gaga is mirroring their careers, just something to think about Either way, I get that Gaga is still building her profile in Hollywood Cher won Best Actress for Mask at the 1985 Cannes film festival. Streisand was the first ever EGOT winner but don't think she was ever in a festival darling.

Let's just wait and see because Gaga will remain untouched regardless of it's commerical success as critics are giving her performance positive reviews and complaining she should have been more utilized The first Joker was compelling in terms of social issues it potrayed, the sequel doesn’t have that kind of power. They could’ve sell it as this ultra romantic love story of two crazies, but their relationship is not that „big” nor believable on the screen imo ...has anybody seen my disco stick?
Mathjus 618
Okay, my friend was in Venice (my little insider I forgave him for not getting Gaga's autograph for me... but this is too much https://kultura.onet.pl/film/recenzje/nowy-joker-podzieli-widzow-alez-dostalo-sie-lady-gadze/p1f4lqq?fbclid=IwY2xjawFGVUBleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHexROnLKO2ThoJqC1kKzM7WFZLTmtBQt3ORTaWN-ItEhtXLlO_F-v_TwZw_aem_xxihKohCpsHWe8TGe5MN7A its review in polish, so whatever.
Ophelia 4,395
The movie is not going to flop, but it also won’t be as remembered as Joker 1. Overall Gaga delivered acting wise, but I wish she got even more time for Harley to shine. She sings a LOT and goes off during it. ...has anybody seen my disco stick? 3

Oh that kinda bothers me though, not gonna lie… it feels like we’ve been lied to lmao, this false advertisement always pisses me off and if they really got Gaga with the sole intention of luring her fans to the theaters… well. >:) Edited September 5 by plane jane
Levine 22,062
I hope despite the critics (which, again, are not negative at all) she has found the courage to accept a movie in which she's the center of the plot. Something like Charlize Theron's Monster or even something like the movie about Maria Callas starring Angelina Jolie (even tho enough with the singing parts lol). They are often some of the best performances, and no less challenging to deliver. 🫶🏼 Anthony Hopkins has 15 minutes of screen time in Silence of the Lambs and it’s one of the most remembered film performances of all time. Marisa Tomei stole My Cousin Vinny. Heath Ledger was only in 33 minutes of Dark Knight’s 2hr 32min runtime! They are like best pop vocal albums while the best actress ones are roty soty Where's the spunk, Adam?
