Will she qualify for Best New Artist? Doesnt the Grammys state that this has to be her breakthrough into public?

"Carpenter had reached the Billboard Hot 100 with two singles – “Skin,” which debuted and peaked at No. 48 in February 2021, and “Nonsense,” which peaked at No. 56 in February 2023."

She charted on the Hot 100 on 2021 and 2023 doesnt that make 2024 not her first year into popularity?

Sabrina's previous albums Eyes Wide Open, which debuted and peaked at No. 43 in May 2015; Evolution, which debuted and peaked at No. 28 in November 2016; and Emails I Can’t Send, which debuted and peaked at No. 23 in July 2022.

Its possible she can still be nominated, I know the Grammys need viewership but their rules on this category is so loose and up for interpretation. For me, I dont think she should because even I who dont live in the US has known of her before her rise in 2024.

there was an account that posted that she does qualify for the category while another artist with a debut album (i forgot who) does not. it was quite a mess on twitter

Where's the spunk, Adam?

I think it was Tate McRrae? She has already submitted three times so she’s not eligible despite being more well known until now

Wow, super impressive! I’m so over that lame Bar Song though.

Honestly, no one outside of the stan world remembers chart positions. Similar to how Tik Tok and Bad Romance were the top two songs at one time. I love them both, so do most of the GP (so it seems). The debut position doesn’t seem to matter as much as the longevity of the song and artist itself, as someone mentioned before! This is a huge win for Sabrina, and it’s looking great for DWAS too.

well, yes, but I think that if any star could choose, they'd pick to have a high debut, a few weeks at #1 and longevity... one does not exclude the other

And while this is true, I’m just trying to stay positive! Of course they’d rather have it all work out just as they want it. I don’t blame them at all for that. But I’d hate for anyone to think this is a let down, you know? But I do understand what you mean, 100%.
