QueenChromatix 2,175
Is peaking at no. 1 in 3-4 weeks still possible? I mean with day-to-day growing radio, steady streams and sales it is still in the pool right? they might say that we're crazy, but i’m just in 🖤 with u

I have a question. In 2024, what estimate percentage does Radio have when it comes to charting on the Hot 100? Lately, I feel like there are songs that get radio deals and are played on end and yet they do not crack the Top 10 on the Hot 100. This is not shade because she is a good pop artist, but I would use Dua Lipa as an example whose recent singles were played heavily on Radio, yet Houdini, Training Season, and Illusion did not reach Top 10. I saw a tweet that said Woman's World got more radio plays for the first 3 days than Die With A Smile on its first 3 days yet it charted at #63 on Hot 100. I think the better question is "How many spins/plays equate 1 point?"

I think the better question is "How many spins/plays equate 1 point?" The Billboard Hot 100 ranks songs based on three main factors: sales (both physical and digital), streaming, and radio airplay. While Billboard doesn't disclose the exact formulas, it's generally understood that a combination of these factors determines a song's position on the chart. For radio airplay: - one point on the Hot 100 is not tied to a specific number of spins or impressions because the chart uses a weighted formula. - Nielsen Music/MRC Data tracks radio airplay across various formats, and the number of spins a song receives on monitored stations is translated into audience impressions based on the station's market size and listener reach. - The total audience impressions from radio play, along with data from sales and streaming, contribute to a song's overall score on the Hot 100. So, the airplay contribution is part of a broader calculation, with the impact of airplay on a song’s position being relative to its performance in sales and streaming as well. Right now, we are currently seeing that the #1 and #2 songs are slowly losing points because they’re starting to lose quite an audience impression on radio these past weekends. so the gap points between us and the top 2 songs are getting closer. However, with sabrina album bomb, it is predicted that her third single, taste, along with her other two hit singles, Please3 and Espresso, will be overtaking us on Hot 100 for week 2. so it will be awhile for us to have the chance to hit #1. I’m not expecting the song to go #1 on the 2nd or the 3rd week unless Interscope/Atlantic is aggressive with the promo (Live performance, multiple versions of song etc). we’ll see how DWAS is holding up for the second week first. I’m hoping DWAS is able to stay top 10 for multiple weeks (amidst sabrina/other rumoured major release) first before considering a shot at #1. luna’s advocate 2
Real Panda 7,584
Thank you @Luna Lovegood for the information. So the formula for Billboard's point system for radio/airplay is not public knowledge, but uses the audience reached as opposed to number of spins. Got it.
