skaxboy 4,906
Inflation calculator would make $370M in 2004 as $615M in 2024. Deadpool and Wolverine has the potential to make this much. It’s only in its second weekend. By its second weekend, Passion of the Christ made ~$219M which is about $364M adjusted for inflation. Passion of The Christ was everywhere. The controversy surrounding it made everyday movie goers want to see it. Plus religious people who rarely went to movie theaters saw it. I recall churches taking their entire congregations to see it. I didn’t see it in theaters but afterwards. I went to Catholic school so I had seen family friendly film versions of the story of Jesus like 4 times by then. Tough to watch but still powerful. I saw Deadpool on the Thursday night of its release and I thought it was amazing! So much fan service and a fun movie to watch. I’ll try and see it again next week when there are less people. I rewatched Fantastic Four because of that cameo and, boy, has it aged terribly.

It's this weird humor of trying to appeal to the Gen Z without understanding the humor while also appealing to the older audience with dated pop references I like dancin', and ponies....
