This is old data. The most recent Quinnipiac released today showed only 2% difference, within MOE. And even that poll was conducted 7-19 to 7-21, so it still doesn’t reflect the reality of her being the nominee, it was still just a hypothetical at the time of polling.

however, the big thing to remember is that everything we’ve see thus far likely Kamala’s basement as far as polling numbers, because it’s all pre-campaigning, pre-advertising, pre-debates and town halls.

we really won’t have polls worth a damn for a week or two yet (and that’s if you think they’re worth a damn to begin with)

Are these polls pre-drop out when its a hypothetical or a post-drop out?

It'd be very unusual for someone in Harris' position to not get a honeymoon bounce in the first polls.

The source says the poll was taken the same day Biden dropped out- including immediately before or after the announcement (at neither point had Kamala been endorsed)- but its from a garbage UK newspaper

The Forbes/HarrisX poll was based on hypotheticals before Biden dropped out

The Morning Consult poll is from 6 July

People have to remember, the Harris VP pick literally won Biden the election. After Biden won crowds in the streets were blasting feminist hymns because Harris was elected VP!

That’s not a particularly controversial stance insofar as it is applied in good faith

I think the timing is perfect though, now the Dems are energised fully and people are inspired, lets hope this momentum stays.

That makes more sense that the closest poll is a post announcement one. And it was broadly in line with the avg of the pre drop out hypothetical polls.

That said, Daily Mail is trash & the pollster raiting for Morning Consult on FiveThirtyEight leaves a lot to be desired. I'd trust a polling company like Ipsos way more personally just based on personal experience.

I wonder though if holding off for so long and making people feel desperate has played into the excitement though

Jesus you have the most bleak, pessimistic, and doomer outlook on things, it's exhausting.

She's been the nominee for less than a week and these polls are almost certainly based on previously hypothetical situations.

We can talk about polling in September.
