Rat Boy 43,832
Literally anything can happen. I’m still shocked that Trump “won” in 2016. Kamala is very smart, I think she will win if she plays her cards right. "****ing rat" - @Dynamite

MOT 3,608
I hope it's the right move. I hope the Dems get fully behind Harris and I hope she gets a fair shake in the media. By fair shake I mean I hope they highlight the facts that Trump is someone who attempted a coup d'etat, who is a rapist, who has boasted about grabbing women by the ***, who has publicly mocked a disabled person, who has privately described military dead as suckers and losers, whose packing of the Supreme Court brought down Roe, who has quoted Hitler in his speeches, who has tried to intimidate judges and prosecutors by threateniing their families, and who has lied constantly about his record and about his opponents - and that Harris is none of these things. The election wasn't about Biden and it isn't about Harris. It's about Trump, and it isn't about anything else. I make no apologies for constantly banging that drum, and I hope Kamala and the Dems and non-Fox media bang it to death over the next few months. Ayesha Erotica 1,924
I don't know what to think about it. It was Biden and not Harris who was elected in the primaries. The voters are very rarely asked anyway, and now even those few cases have suddenly become meaningless, as the chosen person got discarded. A dangerous precedent for the future: will it become normal that prmaries will be held and winners afterwards exchanged because polls are bad? Also Harries lied about the cognitive capabilites of Biden. Harries knew if she told the truth months ago, that primaries perhaps would be repeated and then she would be just one of several candidates with a somewhat chance and not the default candidate with the highest chance. So she decided to lie to increase her own chances at the cost of her competitors and wait until primaries are over, to make sure that she has no competition within her own party. Perhaps she didn't expect Biden giving up that fast. Perhaps she anticipated him to become president again (some months ago that was feasible) and that sometime during his second term he would step back and she would automatically become the first female president in history. Furthermore, global multibillion corporations threaten Biden and withhold "donations" ( = shopping money to buy politicians who act in their interests) if not their preferrred candidate is picked. Once more it is proven, that not the people but the corporations decide the president. This time they made it more obvious than usual ... Even now, there's zero medical evidence that he has any problems. It's just a bunch of people talking out of their asses, convincing themselves of something based on very little observation. There's no reason to think that Harris shared that judgment of him. I don't. (I agree with your other points.)

He prefers to wait until things settle a bit before he tosses his hat in for anything. He was late to endorsing Biden and was late to joining the conversation about him stepping out of the election as well. Given the doubt/lack of confidence the Dems have at the moment in terms of Harris taking on Trump, Obama is probably the biggest voice amongst the Dems that can change that tide.. it’d be a win for the party if Obama doubled down re: Harris because people respect him, & listen to him. Of course it could come later, but the Dem’s need some positivity given the disastrous debate, Biden’s decision & Trumps image boost post-shooting. Then why is Kamala not defending Biden's cognitive capabilites right now and demanding him to continue against the blacklash of the media? If she considers his cognitive capabilites to be truly sufficient, why is she taking his position? Why is she not encouraging him to stay right now? Why was she not objecting to the "bullying campaign" against Biden by clearly stating that their statements about his cog. cap. are wrong? The first thing she did, was to accept the position as presid. cand. This is what she has been waiting for the entire time. She waited until Biden "voluntarily" (under pressure from others) resigns. Biden is alongside with Vladimir Putin the most frequent person in the media in the entire world, and there are not little observations, there's an abundance of observations (!!) for his cognitive capabilites. Ridiculous and shameful. A deeply unserious political party. That said, I'm thrilled Harris is the presumptive nominee. Iirc, she was my second choice in 2019 (behind Warren) and she's only become more seasoned and experienced since then. She gets to run on Biden's platform without Biden's baggage and that's a definite win. And I know identity politics are less and less relevant to anyone who isn't already voting for Trump but the black community, especially black women, are the heart and soul of the Democratic party. With the proper application of outreach and the right VP, Harris could retain Michigan, Pennsylvania, and maybe even Georgia if they step up the ground game enough to convince black voters to get out and vote. Ultimately, the pros outweigh the cons. I agree with you on Kamala's opportunity here, it's a really good call. But I honestly think the democrats were to right to push him out. To me, it was a very serious and wise thing to do. He's simply cognitively weaker than he was before and that will make him incapable of being a leader who can make snap decisions in moments of crisis. Yes, Trump is still by far worse, but seeing the two appear even remotely comparable on that stage is tragic and deserved a rapid solution. I'm glad Biden came to his senses eventually. I understand his supporters treasure him, but his insistence felt a little egoistical. It would have been smarter to have not committed to another term and nurtured a successor from the start. The big strategic plus is that sort of derails the Republicans momentum and puts the unpopular "he's too old" onto Trump instead. It's funny, having lived in the UK/Europe and coming back, you realize how monarchist the US is about our political leadership. There's a lot of glorification of Trump/Biden from their parties, and that causes more division in the long term. Loyalty is admirable but it can be incredibly destructive if it's not questioned.
