This is precisely why I am anti-bullying and anti-mistreatment of minors. I know this is only an explanation and not an excuse, but these issues have lifetime consequences.

I've seen people say that they have been in and out of mental health clinics into their forties because of bullying.

Eugenia Cooney was bullied over her body and look at her now.

One of my parents friends was beaten, got a brain injury that caused seizures (I think), and he died decades later because of it in a car crash.

Bullying has long lasting effects. It's not just "you made someone cry"; it can potentially be life ruining. People aren't a monolith. Just because some react one way doesn't mean that others will react the same way.

(Again, not saying this excuses the actions of the shooter, but this is important to recognize.)

For anyone who says "guns don't kill people, people kill people," guns used to be legal in Australia, then, after one mass shooting, they banned them and they've never had a mass shooting since. Think about that.

Guns are not banned here. We just have stronger gun control and no culture of gun ownership. You need a firearm licence to own a gun and a valid reason for doing so (self-defence doesn't count) so the main people here that own or carry guns are farmers, hunters , cops/prison guards and target shooters.

Do you feel him sir?

Honestly I’m just glad he was found to be a registered republican, so Trump’s gaggle of cult followers can’t spin it and find a way to blame it on the left :messga:

Republicans are already shaping their narrative to pin it on Biden. The fact that he was Republican only quells Democrats who have a tendency to have complete meltdowns whenever someone on the left ****s up. That includes the media, the politicians, AND the voters.

We see a scrawny kid with glasses and acne and assume he must have been bullied (because that's what happens to many people like that), and then we see a pretty blonde girl and automatically think she must have had a pretty successful and easy life.

Well, I have to correct myself: It's not solely his looks but also one additional info.

I saw yesterday his pic (in low-res) and was thinking "perhaps he was bullied", and then I continued reading the article and read that he has won a prize for being very good in maths, and my feeling changed to "he very likely has been bullied". My inner bell was ringing and alarmed after the mathematics info.

I knew someone form school who looked like that and was good in maths and he was bullied. Having glasses, being male, living in the West, not being physically strong built and being good in mathematics seems to strongly correlate with being bullied.

I didn't even know he has acne and braces. Meanwhile, his high-res pic was released, and indeed he has braces. I could'nt see this on his low-res pic.

Tbh the answers in the thread are so weird. You could have also given the answer "As soon as I saw this kid's face I knew he played shooter games". :fail:

I didn't put that into the options because:

Shooter games are actually played by almost all kind of boys. Popular boys play it as well. Physically strong boys play it, just as scrawnies. Perhaps those serving in the military also played it during their youth, and they are strong and less likelys to have been bullied. Perpetrators and victims play it, so it doesn't serve imo as an indicator of being bullied.

Having non-fashionable glasses, being good in mathematics, while not being good in sports is a better indicator.

I don't understand why the media harps on things like this when there's little to no will behind vastly improving mental health resources in schools and actually creating some form of recourse for those who have been bullied. I know that these would be incredibly hard to implement, but it seems quite cynical that the mental health epidemic in young men is only worth talking about when they perpetrate an act of political violence.

Nobody did because we’re not in the 1990s where this embarrassing myth was yet to be thoroughly debunked by study after study…

Games have nothing to do with this 😭

He was literally wearing a gun enthusiast youtubers merch when he died… aka reality is to blame

That's my point. it was irony

well, the Dems in Pennsylvania told Dems to register as Rep so that they can vote for the worst possible candiddate, as sabotage. When someone reg. as Rep/Dem you can never know whether he/she is there as a fan of the party, or to sabotage it.

This is also how Trump came in power. Team Hillary believed he has no chance and told her fans to reg. as Rep and vote for Trump at nominations because she believed other Rep had better chances. So, he ultimately was nominated and won elections.

News about the shooter:

The shooter claimed he has a ten inch dîck.

What a teenage thing to say. :lolga:

We all know when s.o. claims to have a ten inch dîck, it is most likely is only five inch in reality.

high culture

I think the motives are going to be deeper than bullying. For school shootings? Ok sure makes sense.
To shoot Trump? This could very well have been an act in attempt to save democracy 🤷🏻‍♂️

With the shooter I didn’t think about his political leanings but more the neighborhood he lived in.  It seemed sort of upper middle class.

From my experience that environment can be tougher for a kid to grow up in versus a more urban one.  I mean Columbine wasn’t the hood.

This is so true.  The consequences of bullying can be devastating and ruin people's lives.  Not everyone can survive it.

I live outside the space time continuum.
