RudraCNG 15,511
https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/17/24180196/adobe-us-ftc-doj-sues-subscriptions-cancel "The lawsuit alleges Adobe “hides” the terms of its annual, paid monthly plan in the “fine print and behind optional textboxes and hyperlinks.” In doing so, the company fails to properly disclose the early termination fee incurred upon cancellation “that can amount to hundreds of dollars,” the complaint says. When customers do attempt to cancel, the DOJ alleges that Adobe requires them to go through an “onerous and complicated” cancellation process that involves navigating through multiple webpages and pop-ups. It then allegedly “ambushes” customers with an early termination fee, which may discourage them from canceling." As a translator/DTP specialist, I fully support this. For years, Adobe has become very abusive with its subscriptions and general terms. Thankfully, it is my company that pays for the Suite.
Hyperobject 66,771
period! Adobe is literally so evil, they are lucky they don’t have much competition in the market, otherwise they would’ve gone broke by now lol.
nATAH 57,902
GOOD, so proud to have never paid a PENNY to adobe piracy is a great skill to learn mother, what must i do?
Helxig 45,637
Good. Adobe have become a little too big for their boots. So glad I pirated Photoshop years ago because those greedy bastards don't deserve a thing. It was already extortionate enough that their programs are subscription based and hella expensive Next they can sue Microsoft for doing exactly the same thing after the new Windows 11 update which can have them taking a screenshot of your screen every 3 seconds to train their AI In the race to conquer the new frontier of AI we are all nothing but training modules to these big companies. Pisses me off that they are going to make literally billions by stealing our data and using it to train their tech I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. AnnTakamaki 6,914
It’s what they deserved they treat customer like crap, also they promised to “put artist , creator to the front” then continue to train AI with customer data. They deserve a big lawsuit and bankrupt

lastpopicon 37,310
I feel for people that absolutely need the adobe suite of products. It was a pain for me, but I eventually moved from Adobe premiere pro to Da Vinci Resolve and don't miss premiere at all, in many ways resolve is superior. And it's one time payment with free upgrades. The melody that you choose can rescue you
ActualPatient 2,512
As a subscriber, I am worried they'll take away the cheaper 1-year terms where I can pay for the same one-off annual pricing. I'm sure a lot of us here are familiar with how subscriptions are typically priced. 1. Companies offer monthly plans at x amount of $ 2. They also offer annual plans at much cheaper costs than their monthly plans, typically with any range of discounts fro 15% to 80% Adobe meanwhile has the same annual pricing (cheaper) where users can pay it off month-to-month instead of opting for the more expensive monthly plan. If a customer doesn't want those lengthy terms, they can opt for monthly pricing... but that's terribly expensive that it doesn't make financial sense especially when you depend on their software to make $$$. I can see that I owe that money when I sign up for an annual plan paid month-to-month. But I've never had an issue talking to customer service to cancel that and avoid the cancellation fee altogether. Well, actually maybe they did prevent me a couple times, but only because they offered me 3 months free each time i asked to cancel. (honestly, i might have wriggled over a year's worth of Adobe CC because of their anti-churn process) To avoid those cancellation fees when I'm uncertain financially, I make sure I only use cards that I can get rid of (like a virtual card, debit card, etc). They can't catch me for money once they can't bill that account. I've had 3 lapsed plans, none of which attempted to charge my newer payment methods. Also, I had customer service delete those delinquent accounts easily. At least that's what's how it worked since I was a paying subscriber back in 2015 in my region. Not sure if this is the experience US customers have. That said, these companies should make it much easier to cancel plans. That's why I love being locked into App Store. I know Apple gets a lot of flak from devs because of how much they're taxed. but as a consumer, refunds and cancellations are SOOO easy through them. If symptom persists, consult your doctor. HelloHangoverz 17,452
I will be getting a new computer in a few weeks and will be pirating Illustrator instead of subscribing. The whole subscription vs ownership thing is just ridiculous. Availability is not weakness

tylerjs 6,096
The fact that adobe literally accesses and steals all consumer art created in their programs to train AI is enough reason in itself to never use their products again. I was hoping that was what the government was suing them over but I’ll take this too 🇨🇺🇧🇸 “It’s one banana, how much could it cost? $10?”
